Hints and Tips The Manual As always, you really should read the manual. Of course, since this game was never released, there IS no manual! There is a good description of the gameplay available on AtariProtos.com though. 4Ks Here's some tips: it's definetly good to shoot as many of the colored bomballoons as you can, but don't spend all your time trying to shoot them down. Wait until you have a clear shot at one, especially in the later levels. Also, once you learn the art of wrap-around screens you can maximize your chances of survival and good scoring. The best way to avoid danger is to learn to quickly switch sides. And don't try to get all the balloons either, you'll definetly get killed that way. And the best way to get the clowns is to get in close to the ballon, shoot it, and quickly fly down and under the falling clown. Hope this all helps. --Zero
4Ks
11442 Man, I had forgotten how much I like this game! I'll definetly try to improve later.
toymailman
I think I've figured out the scoring for this one. Catch a balloon = 10 points Shoot a balloon = 25 points Crash into a balloon with a bomb = 12 points (& lose a life) Shoot a balloon with a bomb = 33 points Shoot a balloon carrying a clown = 40 points Catch a falling clown = 200 points Catch the bonus mouse = 300 points
Hornpipe2
Game is too slow for me. I prefer stuff like Dragster - 6 seconds to finish a game! 4969

Zoyx
There are at least 3 versions of Dumbo around. I am using the one hosted by Atariage. I don't know what the differences are, but we should probably stick to that version.
Hornpipe2
There are at least 3 versions of Dumbo around. I am using the one hosted by Atariage. I don't know what the differences are, but we should probably stick to that version. No wonder my score is so much lower, haha. I was using the version marked as original in Rom's Collection, but that's the oldest (5/5/1983). AtariAge hosts the latest (7/11/1983). I'll let Rom know to change the filenames. ETA: I see what happened... the 5/5/1983 version is NTSC, while the later ones are PAL! Edited December 11, 2009 by Hornpipe2
Zoyx
@Hornpipe2 - Your screenshot was the inspiration for my post. Yours was a different color.
Hornpipe2
Latest version is much easier. 18,
Wickeycolumbus
29,028. I'm using the 7/11/83 version by the way. Definitely one of the better games in the Children's series, it's a shame it went unreleased
darthkur
1,225 Can't say I'm too thrilled with this one. The control is awful. I suppose that should be expected when concerning a flying elephant.
Skaarg
This is a fun game, unfortunately I'm quite terrible at it. =P 4788
Wickeycolumbus
I unlocked the Easter Egg while playing. I haven't seen a screen shot of it online, so here you go

Carey85
3690 Remind me to never play this game again. There's a reason that some games were never released Edited December 14, 2009 by Carey85
Zoyx
I don't hate this game... just needs some polish. I am actually a fan of the physics... even though it results in some chunky play. I would like to see H.E.R.O. redone with acceleration and gravity. @Carey85 - looks like you are using the wrong version. You might find the Atari Age version easier. toymailman
On the board. 34,641 Your screen is red... what version are you using? Or is it something funky with your TV/camera? It could just be my S-Video modded system. Sometimes the colors change slightly. Jr. Pac-Man is one where the first few times I play Level 1 is green; then eventually it is brown. I am probably going to get either the CyberTech Pro mod (when available) or the Longhorn Engineer mod. I'd like to see this added to the comparison site and take the best one for future gaming. Also, a new contender could be a brand new 2600 SoC thanks to Curt's efforts. If a new system is built with S-video and stereo support that would be an option too.
