Was this supposed to be an adapted 'mini' 2600 with built in joysticks

I wonder if they managed to do the same thing for the 5200

Interesting that the unit has the cart port on the back (XE like) as well as connectors for 2 additional joysticks, making it a 4 port mini 2600 (due to the 2 built in j/s)

Interesting, I have never seen that site before.

The black ones are smaller than the blue ones, correct?

I confess to never knowing anything about the CX2000, and I never knew what the CPUWIZ's avatar was.

I just did some research and learned a bit about this machine. Good stuff....thanks.

One of the few things I still need to check-off. This, and the black version, the PGP-1, the mindlink and a few more things I can't remember right now.....I need to update my inventory....go figure....

They are brown. The "Val" was designed and developed out of the WCI/NY Atari labs. The Blue version was Atari Sunnyvales answer to making the color more "kid friendly".

The reason I ask if the brown ones (thanks for the correction!) are smaller is because of this picture:

http://www.cyberroac...g/two/woa40.jpg

In that piture, the brown one appears to be smaller, though it may be because of the angle it is taken at.

BTW, I'm sure I've mentioned this before but Atari did actually mass produce something that hinted at the CX-2000. At least some of the 2600's power supplies have verbiage on them that says they will work for the CX-2600 OR CX-2000. Back in the day I used to wonder what the hell the CX-2000 was. Now, of course, we know.

Just an FYI. I've had 2 or 3 brown ones over the years and all of them worked.

I swear my uncle had a working black or brown one back in the day?
I remember not ever seeing a Atari Like that before and thought it was sooo coool!
To bad he is dead and I cannot ask him, but I will ask other kids in the family and see who has it.
I need to know!
