I've been talking with Mr VCS about when we can get the INTV Season 2 started (and even volunteered to throw my hat into the ring to help run/keep it running due to the number of other HSC's he has to keep track of as well.

In the mean time, let's get the first choices for season 2 out there, regardless of how/when we get it underway...

To shoot a few current lists..

Jacob (MT, SA, Frogger, Vectron, He-man)

I love Space Armada (not sure how can make sure someone doesn't play "Practice" compared to "Game" but other than that I'm game), Frogger and He-Man would be awesome to run.

Vectron I'd probably stay away from (even though I love the game due to it almost being impossible to play without a 16-way controller (INTV disc works great, emulation NOT so MUCH!)

As for Mouse Trap, ewww ewwww ewwwwwwww get away! :)

RGW - TC, DK Jr., Popeye - Love me some Thunder Castle (damn cats to power up lol (or is that a rat), DK Jr (do we need a repeat of DK from Season 1, and Popeye is NOT bad on the INTV, wouldn't mind me some Parker Brothers...

A few I'd toss into the mix are:
Ice Trek - Anytime you can "battle" the angel of death due to you killing one of her caribou :)
Space Spartans - The Battle - is - OVER :) Starbase one under attack!
Diner - We had BurgerTime Season one, so why not the sequel, or did we do this one already lol
Las Vegas Poker 'n Blackjack - JUST KIDDING :)
Snafu - Game 14 - 25 Rounds should be enough to show nobody getting the perfect score of 75 :) Fastest Speed of course
Nova Blast - The sound when the city dies... classic!

I'd love to see more offbeat choices get featured this season. Not all of the games we choose have to be traditional high-score games, after all, and we might consider games that feature other competitive mechanics:

- Trying to set speed records in Auto Racing and Skiing
- Trying to get the lowest possible score in PGA Golf or Chip Shot Super Pro Golf
- Trying to win by the biggest margin (or lose by the smallest margin!) in Championship Tennis or one of the other second-generation sports games
- Trying to make the most cash in one of the gambling games (yes, even Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack :D )

Bowling could be fun too. In that spirit, I like the idea of including at least a few games during the year that can't be played endlessly, but where the mission is instead to try to get as close to perfection as possible. (Maybe this reflects the fact that I'm not so much of a high-score chaser by temperament, which in turn reflects the fact that I'm not a big fan of memorizing patterns in arcade-style games...)

Anyway, I'm going to try to join in more this season. Looking forward to it!

Actually, I like these ideas a lot! Chip Shot Golf for sure! World Championship baseball on the hardest setting vs the computer would be another (all the Super Pro games for that matter). :)

I'll be playing a lot more myself I hope.

One good way to roll this Intellivision HSC into action, would be to choose at LEAST 10 very common games, that many already own or can buy online, (non-expensively), so we get the most non-emulaton, players consistantly involved.

5 rare games like Thunder Castle/Pac-man/Defender etc...

Maybe 5 semi rare ones like Q-bert/Frogger/Dragonfire etc...

10 Commons, Astrosmash/Space Spartians/SNAFU/Skiing/Pitfall/Space Armada/Carnival etc...

A nice idea for a "variety pack" would be VOICE GAME CHALLENGE....

TRON/SPARTIANS/BOMBER

Scoring I think could happen this way (if it needs a tune up),

1st place is 11 points, (golden ribbon)
2nd place is 10 points, (silver ribbon)
3rd place is 9 points. (bronze ribbon)
--- 2 points less for outside the top 3 finishers.
4th 7
5th 6
6th 5
7th 4
8th 3
9th 2
10th1 Anything 10th or lower gets just (1) point.

You guys think "quality" of someones gameplay should reward more then their participation total??

If Mister VCS, or Chris need any help or ideas, let me know...

I have some nice challenge ideas for Bowling/Horse Racing and Utopia!

Cool, I like the idea of Frogger on (game 3) the one you cannot move through the sides of the screens.

He-Man, has that (see how many runs you can do) feel.. and would provide a solid challenge,
probably (game 3)?

Mouse Trap, I know.. it seems broken at first play, but when I took time to play it.. it's quite fun. Game 3 "again".

Armada we'd play the (Game) variation and hope people are honest (which they all probably are)

Vectron, true the emulator would be not be good... although it's a game that should be played someday and figured out (by many), same with Maze-a-Tron? :ponder:

>> The more the merrier, welcome to our humble abode... I love the ideas you have, but the problem I can see is possibility of too many maxed out ties for first, especially with Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack, as a player could simply key in $9999 as their starting #. For games to be good, they got to start from the same defined point, and love or hate high score games, they do. I can definitely see myself racing course 1, 3 or 5 on Auto Racing, or hitting on the Golf links :)

First off, I love Mr VCS's scoring system, it does reward performance, as the top does score more. As for your game suggestions...

Frogger - RIBBIT RIBBIT :) :) :) (3 smiles for game 3)

He-Man: The games are just if your starting on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th pass thru the Wind Raider/Skeletor path. (Practice/Beginner/Advanced/Master) I think are the names without pulling out the cart. I don't however seeing # of passes working with a game that has a scoring mechanism that works fine (500-meteors, 1k-skeletor, etc)

Again, I re-interate... EWWWWWWWWW I just stepped in some Mouse Trap....

Space Armada puts Space Invaders to shame :) Good on you, INTV... exploding bombs, invisible aliens, guided shots, etc :)

I love Vectron personally (only than Mattel copped out on their congratulations for completing all 100 levels due to memory space issues hehe), don't see it being a great HSC title however.

Tron Maze-a-Tron has been a personal favorite of mine (maxing energy out to 255 (nice hexi-decimal registers) but the scoring is virtually non-existant as if you don't complete a run-thru no matter how good you do or how long you last, your score is zero.

As for the HSC, Mr VCS will be doing it alone for this one, as I think he already got it planned for season 2. We should be starting soon, I hope :)

(Don't take my suggestions as gospel, just offering suggestions like everyone else is)

Here's an INTERESTING game idea,

SHARP SHOT...

Could play all (4) different games on it, and have a grand total of all 4 scores!

Don't quite follow you. Are you saying you see nine games you'd like to play again in this season? The list I made was a list of all the games that were played in Season One.

Were we to play LVP&B or Horse Racing et al., I'd imagine that we'd all agree to start with a stake of, say, $100. Of course people could cheat easily, but then again they can do that anyway with the aid of Photoshop or whatever, so I think it's a non-issue. Having said that I'm not sure that LVP&B is a great choice, but at least we know just about everyone has it! :D

Nice one! BTW, one thing I like about the idea of Golf or Skiing is that it allows more than one player to play at once (in strict alternation), so that I could play with my girlfriend while also playing for high scores. I suppose I could try to do that with a game like Burgertime, but the better I do, the longer she'd have to wait (and vice versa of course), which gets annoying for the person who's waiting around.

Goldenband - That's what I get for trying to reply at work, I didn't catch on they all were from Season one (how long ago that was) hehe... My bad.

We haven't had to worry about Photoshopping here in the HSC (INTV) that is. A) We are all just too dang honest (yah, thats it) and B) We're all too good that we can easily spot a photoshop forgery (unfortunately thats it, you know deterrant lol)

Usually HSC scores are solo player adventures, so that would't be a determining factor :)

Come on, I know there has to be more than me, golden and rev lurking here... Remember the early April of Mr VCS, guess what.... its April... so lets hear the first voting for games in Season 2 (game 1).... :) :) :)

My votes go for

Burgertime (I came in on game 2 and missed this last go around)
Auto Racing (Fastest completion - Track 1 would likely be most easiest to do this on)
For those wanting a bad game in the mix (and remembering Dk, DK Jr from last time there is), lets put in Congo Bongo hehehehe
Ice Trek - Build that bridge
Demon Attack - Game 10 (ultimate speed (or as they would say in spaceballs, ludicrious speed!)

I wouldn't mind replaying some of last seasons games since i didn't own them then. And i don't like using emulators. I did hell of a lot better playing Beamrider on an actual console then i did using a controller on my computer.

I like DK Junior on the Intellivision. But i didn't own it last season.

I'm getting impatient waiting for the season to begin. Jan, Feb, March, and April is when i have the most time to play. I get laid off every year at that time and got nothing but time on my hands. The summer is the busy time for me when i don't have time to play. I wish the season would of started months ago. What are we waiting on? By the time it starts i may not have time.

My top choices are Thunder Castle, Diner, DK Junior.

I'll put in attempt tomorrow. Worked my butt off at work today. I'm exhausted.

Never played Venture before, except for just a minute or 2 to test the game out. Looks like i could use some pointers. I'll go read the manual for starters.

I usually bowl 16lbs right handed on the game, but prefer the pick up spares version (but impractical for a HSC as its random as to which spares u get, and each score differently)

That's the thing. With the participation so low, if is not a common game, you should give enough heads-up to allow someone to get the game. I am not going to do any emulation in this HSC, it's not like 2600 where the experience can be at least close. I have about half the inty library, but it is definitely the common half.

Giving advance notice allows practicing the game which will shift the scores to where they wouldn't had been. We'd of been over 100k on Shark! Shark! in the opening days instead of right at the end of the session, and people would of had game 8 owned on the current Atari 2600 VCS game (Dk Jr) instead of just coming into it now.

For Bowling, just make it a normal bowling game, allow players to assign whatever weight, hand, slickness they want to bowl with.

Picks for game 3 for me would be

BurgerTime! (for those in the general availibility category)
Space Spartans (Intellivoice game)
Ice Trek (Kill the caribou, avoid the angel 'o death!!!)
He-Man (Masters of the Universe)
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Treaure of Tarmin (Disc level selection) (WIERD POWER DOORS!!!!! hehehehehehehe)
