Is it just me, or do Sega Master System games seem to

I mean, I'm seeing boxed non-rare SMS games going to $20-$30 on ebay now that used to go for $3 to $5 a few years ago.

What gives? Did someone bury a bunch of Sega games in a landfill, or is it just a bunch of price gouging douchebags driving up the market?

In general i think retro/vintage/classic gaming prices are going up with some rising faster than others.

With all of the downloading on the new systems collectors are wanting to own the "real deal" and so i think this is why prices are going up.

I've noticed the same thing. I suspect that there are tons of people from the NES generation who already collected the NES and games, since that was what the majority had when they were kids. Perhaps some of them are looking to experience what they missed on the SMS.

The recent hype about 3D TV may have also sparked some interest in the SMS 3D shutter glasses and games, since this year's CES was pushing updated versions of the same technology.

On one hand, it's good to see the SMS get some love. On the other hand, it's a lot more expensive adding to my collection :|

I would venture a guess it's the latter. In fact it's almost always the case with everything.

There's one guy on eBay with lots of 3 boxed fairly common games, like putting an obligatory Hang On/Safari Hunt thrown into every lot with two other "ok" games like Ghostbusters or Alien Syndrome, and he's asking $24.99 plus $8 shipping.

That's like almost $40 for two games that are worth $5 each, and one that's worth $.50.

And he's got like 30 auctions with similar combinations of mediocre games for $24.99 all the way up to $59.99. (with a Hang on on almost every one of them)

I love these games, but I really cant stand dealing with scumbags ho pull this kind of crap.
