Had a few more alien encounters: pixels from zapped aliens moving about, mother ship and alien stuck on top left of screen with noise, finished wave and then had to shoot mother ship for it to go on, when I was out the invisible mother ship laid a load more aliens

Holy crap! I didnt notice that until you pointed it out! LOL!

Perhaps, I can do better if I clean my monitor screen. Anyway, I got 40940 (almost hit the BASIC ROM address at 40960 ($a000)). If I had finished that invasion 33, it would have been a few more easy rounds (assuming it resets height again). I did change joysticks to original CX-40. Makes big difference in invasions 11 and 22 when one miss and you're dead.

I guess by "risk it" you mean you'll give it another go to try to break the 64K (65536) limit and get into 17-bit land which is unaddressable by the Atari 6502.

A good turnout for a classic game, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I think Blue Max is one of Fandals' favourites, so if he's finished programming his new game hopefully he'll have time to play
