You'd probably get better responses if you posted this in the Jaguar forum (it was originally in the 7800 forum).
I own a Pro Controller, and I like the feel of it better than the stock Jaguar controller. But the new buttons are (as I understand it) just duplicates of keys that are already available on the keypad, and only a few games were designed to specifically support the Pro Controller: Primal Rage, Highlander, Super Burnout, Atari Karts, and Battlemorph seem to be the major ones. If those games are important enough to you to justify the expense, it may well be worth it, and you'll be getting a very good controller. But I don't think you'll be missing too much by sticking with the stock controller.

I wish the pro controller had been around when Doom, Wolf3d, and AvP were made. Using the shoulder buttons for strafe would have been great.

It's just a different Jag controller, the action buttons and D-pad feel different. I think the pro D-pad is sunken in more, is less of a strain on the thumb. The round A-B-C buttons are good too. It's a little thiner overall. It's a good refinement on the basic Jagpad, and is worth buying one, I believe. I have three of them.
I need to try to make a rapid fire Jag controller and a Full Arcade Jag controller like what Gunstar did - those two would be awesome! The Arcade controller would just be really cool!, and the rapid fire one would be good for games like Raiden and TMcF and others, not that I mind manual button mashing but it would be a good change of pace once in a while.

It's not worth the money it goes for now... $20 or less, ok. Now it's going for $30+ I think... I bought a brand new one and was not impressed. D pad was worse than my stock Jag controller and hardly any games use the extra buttons.

Id pay $30 for another no problem!
I'll buy any you have left Kev for $20.
I think its so much better than the stock.
And I used the stock style for over 10 years before I got my Pros...Now thats all I use.

I typed that wrong. what I meant was its worth up to $20 for what it is, I wouldn't pay any more than $20 and since people are now paying $30+ for it, I don't think it's worth that.
The d pad on the pro I had was very stiff and unresponsive compared to the mushy d pad on my stock controller. My thumb hurt like hell in a hurry when I used the Pro. Plus 95% of Jag games don't utilize the Pro in any way.

Maybe it was just your pro controller was not up to par or not broken in. I never had sore thumbs with mine. Plus it felt better in my hands,
But the 5% that use it make the differance to me...esp BSG and Primal Rage...cant play without it. Just makes it so much more fun.
I'll offer you $25 for yours!

lol...
I don't have a Pro anymore, sold it LONG ago.
True, it could just be my Pro wasn't broken in or w/e but I dunno...

The PRO controller is still better for these games becuase the extra x,y&z buttons as well as the shoulder buttons are mapped out to 7,8,9 and 4&6 on the keypad. Which means that in AvP you CAN use the shoulder buttons to strafe!!! And the extra pro buttons can be used to more easily select some of the weapons on Doom. In fact, MOST Jaguar games actually can take great advantage of the pro-controller as long as they used the keypad extensively with regular controllers. Not to mention a better feel, etc. as was mentioned earlier, over standard controllers.

I have one Pro controller, but if I can get my hands on another one I'll do it (if the price is good).

). Will be interesting to see what it ends up at.

You can buy them new here:
http://moeroshop.net...oducts_id=14146
The cost is $25.52 US, plus shipping. If I recall correctly, with shipping it was about $40 US.
I bought one from them about 6 months ago, and it took maybe two weeks or so to ship from France to my home in B.C.
