i'm excited for it. it'll be nice to see motion control that actually works well.

Cool, now maybe the PS3 will get as much shovelware as the Wii. I've never really understood the whole motion control thing. If I want to play tennis or baseball I'll go play them.

Motion Gaming holds no interest at all for me. I have a Wii and am not impressed at all with waving my arms around like a maniac in order to fight in a boxing match or hit a baseball or to drive a car or to reload a gun, and on and on. I think the commercials I've seen for Natal look silly and unimpressive. I've watched a couple of the Move commercials and again they are silly and unimpressive.

I am truly glad that I have kept all of old video game systems and games. When the day comes that I have to use motions to play Pixel Junk Monsters, Valkyria Chronicles, God of War, Metal Gear, Killzone, Halo, and all the other games I enjoy, that is the day I retire my PS3 and Xbox360 (much like I've done with the Wii) and my TV will be hooked up exclusively to my Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, Super Nintendo, and Atari systems.

I'm sure that there are those that look forward to the Wii - Natal - Move type of motion gaming and more power to them. But its not for me.... I'm too stuck in my senile - grumpy ways and a joystick/gamepad is the only way to game.

I want to say that this would be a good addition if the controllers and eyetoy are packaged together in a starter pack not separate and includes a disc with some demos. It also wouldn't hurt to make a few decent games before the shovelware ensues...oh and Capcom? Yeah I didn't like Resident Evil 5 and will not be buying the waggle version.

I don't even think this or Natal will be supported enough to get shovelware.
The 3rd party producers bitch about not moving software on the Wii as it is. Why would they want to continue not selling software on the other two platforms? I think this will go the way of the powerglove.

It's hard not to scoff at Sony's Wii-too MOVE, but...the thing looks pretty cool, actually. Looks like they've taken the Wiimote and made some improvements (wireless nunchuk, better battery, what looks like much better button placement, potentially better motion sensing). The games will be the ultimate test, of course.

I'm pretty sure it will flop, though. :ponder:

Yeah after looking into it more they have no plans to include both controllers so the 'nunchuck' will have to be purchased separately. Well piss on that 'Move' I can easily live without another cheap marketing tactic...but they still have time to change it before it's official release this fall.

actually, sony created motion controllers on consoles years ago so its actually nintendo who is the "me too"-

Yeah, I think Mattel beat them BOTH to the punch with the Power Glove if you want to get technical. And the U-Force too, but that was completely terrible and should never have existed.

The MOVE games look like they will only be one or two player....there aren't enough bluetooth addresses for simultaneous 4 player games.

It's not quite that bad; according to the article:

The fact that no one even knows about Sony motion controllers shows that Nintendo still deserves credit at being "first"... Kind of like how Magellan gets the credit for circling the globe even though he personally didn't survive the trip. Anyway, if you really want to play the "Who was first?" game, you could always throw the Power Glove or U-Force into the ring. And wasn't there some liquid mercury 2600 controller.

Nintendo was the first to do it WELL, and sometimes, that's the same as being first, period.

In addition to that, Nintendo is the first major* game company to make a motion controller the primary controller for one of their systems. They certainly deserve credit for actually having the balls to do that.


*I made sure to say that Nintendo was the first MAJOR company to do this because I'm sure someone will point out that some little company I never heard of made a system that I never heard of which featured a motion controller as the main controller.

I'm looking forward to this. Sure it's probably just a lousy gimmick that will fade away as quickly as the previous eyetoy titles, but since I've got the cam already, this doesn't look like an expensive upgrade so I'll give it a shot. it's about time the eyecam played a larger part in ps3 games (besides EoJ that is). I've already extended my cam out to the front of my setup hoping head tracking will work for GT5, but this seems an even better reason to have done that. I really like that there are lights on the unit itself, since I'm a front projection user so I sit in the dark all the time.

I've really liked the demo vids I've seen, and can't wait to see what any 'real games' look like.
