Welcome to week 7 of the 5th season of the Atari Age NES High Score League!

This season is only going to be 10 weeks long, and will feature one game released each year between 1985 and 1994.

Here are the standings after 6 weeks of play:

starcry 539
darthkur	254
Jibbajaba	226
roadrunner	142
mihcael 110
JacobZu7zu7	110
atari2600land	107
arjak 99
LarcenTyler	93
doubleminor	90
ClassicGMR	80
phaxda 66
mightymage	59
thegoldenband	56
Tr3vor 37
4Ks 26
Herbarius	20
Pyromaniac605	16

This week's game and the 1991 entry is going to be Shatterhand. This is a lesser-known NES game, but is in my opinion one of the best games on the system. Even if you've never heard of it, give it a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Title: Shatterhand
Developer: Natsume
Publisher: Jaleco
Released: December 1991 (US)
Twin Galaxies High Score: 306,600 by Eric R. Cummings.

The game only shows you your score between levels, and after your game ends, so when the game over screen pops up, make sure to make a note of your score and/or take a screen shot because you aren't going to see it again. You can see your score during the game by pressing "Start" but that does you no good because your game isn't over yet!

Once you get past the first level, you can choose the order in which you complete the levels. I am not putting any restriction on the order that you use. Play around with it and see what gives you the best score.

This is my first season running the NES HSC. I didn't go back and see which games had been played already. I'm just trying to pick standout games from each year that the NES was active.

Well guys my copy just arrived and to be honest I forgot a bit with the 2 week long matches. I used to be pretty decent at it when I was a kid cant recall if i beat it but i do remember thinking it was hard. So here goes nothing!

Reminds me a lot of Mega Man in the controls and boss fight. I could get to like this. :)

MUCH better than SMB3 for an HSC entry.

Yeah, I agree. The nebulous rules involved with SMB3 kind of killed it...

Live and learn.

I'm going to give this until Wednesday. Once again, not a popular choice, apparently. Next season is going to be a "Players' Choice" deal...

Remember, tonight at midnight is the cutoff. I'll try to post the 1992 game tomorrow night.

I know!

I'll try to get the new game up tonight. I'm really busy this week AND I'm sick, so not much time.
