Out-of-Print Archive has done something that most gaming magazine archiving sites haven't done, Out-of-Print Archive has recently released the first of many many official 100% sanctioned releases by the publisher/copyright holder.  Mr. Hugh Gollner, who was owner and publisher of Maverick Magazines and Gollner Publishing, has given Out-of-Print to release his back catalog of gaming magazines (list below).

The first release with this new partnership, and first step forward of working with publishers and copyright owners, is Mega Drive Advanced Gaming #2.

Posted Image

Mega Drive Advanced Gaming #2 is now available completely free at Out-of-Print Archive.

Interview with Mr. Hugh Gollner himself at Out-of-Print Archive.

List of magazines that are now coming to Out-of-Print Archive:

Amiga Action
Mega (some)
Mega Drive Advanced Gaming
Mega Tech (some)
PC Player
ST Action
Super Control

This is not the last official issue that will be released by Out-of-Print Archive, there are many more issues from Mr. Gollner coming and there are several other publishers/copyright owners that Out-of-Print Archive is in talks with to bring their back catalog to the fans (some represent a newer cover date than 1999).

Dude, that magazine looks awesome. Was it an independent mag in Europe?

I like your site a lot. I bookmarked it and am going to link to it on CGQ's Facebook page.

Thanks man, we appreciate the post.  We are a younger site (we started on the 10 year anniversary of the Dreamcast and haven't slowed down since).  I will add you on the Out-of-Print Archive FB too so you and your fans can keep up with us a little easier.

Just a quick update about Out-of-Print Archive.  We have recently made some changes to how the site is managed and also in how the site is accessed that are going to affect visitors.

The site address is the same as before but now the site is hosted on a much more stable server and the forums are now more streamlined and feature aesthetics better matching the main site.

The forum address is:

http://www.outofprin...forum/index.php

Don't worry, if you were a member before, your account should still work without a problem, we just did some rearranging to the hosting.

Get ready for some rather big announcements that I spent most of today finalizing for Out-of-Print Archive, believe me, these announcements are rather interesting and definitely worth checking out.

This week we at Out-of-Print Archive have decided to continue with the special features, this time focusing on Future Publishing (too many mags to list but they are beyond a heavyweight in the publishing world).  Future Publishing is celebrating 25 years in publishing, no small feat and definitely one we wanted to help celebrate.

Check out the special insights from key members of the Future Publishing team such as the founder, Chris Anderson and former Group Publisher, Steve Carey.

Please help us celebrate Future Publishing's magnificent history, and bright future, by checking out "Retro Future - Celebrating 25 years of Future Publishing" at Out-of-Print Archive today!

This week, we have announced working with Newsfield Publications to bring their complete catalog of gaming magazines to Out-of-Print Archive and are celebrating with the legal release of Raze #1.  News post copied from Out-of-Print Archive:

Out-of-Print Archive is proud to present another exclusive official release, Raze issue 1 from October 1990, with full permission from the publisher, Newsfield Publications.

Not only do we have permission to work on all Newsfield Publication's back catalogue of magazines (Zzap!64, Crash, Amtix!, The Games Machine, Raze, etc.), but we also have an interview with Roger Kean, the Publisher/Managing Director at Newsfield.

The Raze magazine was scanned by none other than Mort and edited by the OoPA team and is our first official Newsfield Publications release:

Raze 1 - october 1990 (UK)
Posted Image

In this first official release of Raze you will find the following online articles:

Devil Crash (PC Engine)
Rick Dangerous II (Amiga)
Future Basketball (Amiga)
Shadow Of The Beast 2 (Amiga)

We'd like to thank Roger Kean again for his generosity of allowing us to work on his back catalogue of magazines and for the time he took out of his schedule to talk to us about his publishing career.  We're sure you will enjoy both the magazine and interview as much as we did.

Quote

'Back in Time' is a monthly feature where we look back at the classic video gaming magazines twenty years ago this month. This month it's June 1990 when Operation Wolf shot onto the Sega Master System with an excellent conversion of the hit coin-op, Sinclair User reached its 100th issue, magazines went soccer crazy to coincide with the World Cup in Italy and Zzap!64 Amiga published the first edition in an ongoing development diary of a Rowland brothers C64 game called Creatures...

We go back a couple of generations from last week’s update and find ourselves right in the middle of the early 16-bit boom with Mean Machines number 5.
We start off with an early look at the Super Famicom with a feature detailing its launch games.
Then we proceed with a look at the slowly aging NES with a review for Gremlins 2. On the Mega Drive side we focus on two games: the first one being Castle of Illusion, while the second one is a bit of a forgotten gem, namely Crack Down.

We continue our 'Back in Time' monthly feature where we look back at the classic video gaming magazines twenty years ago this month. This month it's January 1991 when Amiga gamers were held 'Captive' with Tony Crowther's latest Amiga release, Navy Seals infiltrated the C64 in cartridge form, the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles impressed with its colourful Speccy version and John Madden began his domination of Football games on the Mega Drive...

From the magazines featured in the article, we have chosen four reviews to read online: the 'C&VG Hit!' review of John Madden Football on the Mega Drive, Your Sinclair's 'Megagame' review of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles on the Spectrum, Zzap!64's sizzling review of Navy Seals on C64 cartridge and Amiga Action's review of Captive on the Amiga.

As usual, the feature comes with a selection of articles that were chosen from four of the magazines covered and are available to read online:

John Madden's American Football (Mega Drive)
Navy Seals (Commodore 64)
Captive (Amiga)
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (ZX Spectrum)

And here is the most recent update:

After a 5 month hiatus, we return to planet Saturn with the second issue of the official Sega Saturn Magazine.
Our selection of preview articles focusses on features instead of reviews this time. We start of with one of the best lightgun games ever created with Virtua Cop, we then follow up with Firestorm: Thunderhawk 2. From there we move on to the game that redifined fighing games and put the bar as high as it could go at the time, namely Virtua Fighter 2, and the final feature focusses on Capcom's X-Men Children of the Atom.

Someone here wanted me to scan the UKs Sony/PSX Pro magazines, but after doing TeleMatch I quite had enough of scanning.
Maybe you guys can put those up on Out of print soon?
Posted Image

On a different note, I love RAZE, that was an excellent magazine, shame it only lasted 12 issues. Glad I still got all of those.
Game Zone was very good too, I got 10 out of the 12 released.
Posted Image

Arcade, a good Future Publishing title, again short lived (24 issues)
Posted Image

Loved Ultimate, crazy magazine:
Posted Image

I also have 4 issues of Video Gamer from Future Publishing, did they release more? I never found any more.

Maybe you can do Mr. Dreamcast, I only found issue 1, there's supposed to be 6 issues.
