Like most people in New England, the noreaster dumped 3 days worth of rain on us. My sump pump was going non-stop and I thought I was free and clear. I went to hockey monday morning and came home to start getting ready for work. I went down the basement to take a shower and the rug was soaked. I thought it wasn't that bad considering it seemed limited to one spot. Little did I know, the pad under the rug was soaked in about 60% of the room. I went around to where the furnace/water heater is and could see a puddle about 1/4 inch deep. Sitting right next to it was my box of 7800 carts in the cardboard box on the floor. I also had a few 5200 carts there. I picked up the box and to my luck, it was completely dry. A few more inches to the right and the box would have been sitting in the water. I guess oy wouldn't have most ruined all the cart, just the ones on the bottom of the box, but that still would have sucked. I also got lucky in that my Mountain Dew arcade machine was in one area where the rug didn't get wet.
Anyways, my father and I just spent over 2 hours pulling up the rugs and pad. I might have to take out most of the baseboard (some of it is definitely coming out since it got a little mold). I guess it could have been a lot worse since most of the my neighbors got 4 inches to a foot of water. We have a french drain around the house which I think saved us from a major problem. Anyways, watching the news, I know we got a away pretty lucky compared to a lot of people. My wife was driving around Quincy on Tuesday and entire neighborhoods had flooded yards. I know my 7800 collection is a small thing and could be replaced (maybe except for Tank Command), but it teaches me a lesson to be more careful.
