None of this is as well realized as multiple SID products have been. One of the issues is that the POKEY is more a low level digital sound generator than a generalized synth like SID is. Most of the work with a SID box is creating an interface to the chip with a minimal amount of effects logic. So the POKEY has to be coupled with a significant amount of logic and software to make a synth.
