As you guys have been reading over the past week and a half, I have been going through and unpacking all my old game systems and computers. Well tonight, in one of the last boxes, I found all my 2600 cart boxes including the Air Raid box. I was incorrect about there not being any writing on the box. As you can see below there is a lot. I believe that I was remembering the cardboard and plastic sleeve that holds the cart inside the box.

As I have been saying I am new to the whole eBay thing but here is what I plan to do. I am going to take the auction down and relist it very soon. Maybe as early as tomorrow night. Please provide me as much advice as you guys can because I know that having the box takes this to a whole new level. You guys have been great over the past many days and your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Here you go!

Please oh please tell me this in not an April Fools joke. Pretty please!

Yes, it is real... I am still a little shaken myself.

Any advice on how to move forward with the auction would really help...

I most lilkely going to get an indepentdant verification from someone everyone knows and trusts...
You should put the box alone up for auction on ebay, that would maximize your profits..
Leave the current cart auction going and start another auction for the box.
If he puts the box alone up for auction he is alienating those who do not have the game. Air Raids don't show up too often, so the person could have the box, and be out of luck for the actual game for years.

I will be selling both together.

i think if given the chance to auction off a complete air raid, you kinda gotta have to. :)

Normally i would agree, but this is an extraordinary situation.
Im sure people would bid many thousands and be happy with this box alone.
This way he will get people who already own the cart bidding and also people who dont own the cart bidding.

I really doubt that. Chances are the serious bidders will already have the cart. If I had the kinda cash to buy a CIB Air Raid, I'd happily buy the box now and wait for the cart. the cart is a piece of cake compared to the box ;)

I personally think the original cart should stay with the original box. In the comic collecting world when someone puts together a comic with no cover with a cover of a another comic it is called restoration. I think for histories sake these items need to stay together.

I agree, they need to stay together. Plus, running two seperate auctions would just seem shady to me if I was watching the auctions.

The irony is that the two 'grails of the NTSC and PAL Atari world were both discovered in the same week - Go Go Home Monster cart and Air Raid box. And both around April 1 :-o

This just leaves the Karate box as the only remaining NTSC 'grail...

I can trace my find back to that CNN article clueing me in. I am sure there are now a lot of people either digging up there old games or kicking themselves or throwing them out. :)

Different circumstance. If we were talking about removing the label from one cart and placing it on another cart, then I'd agree with your comparison.

Bwwahahahaha!

I'm shocked that this game has a date of 1982 on the box. Hasn't speculation always put this game coming out around '85 at the earliest?

Another way to create value while you have it: take really good pictures of the box and sell limited edition reproduction boxes to those who own the cart and want a box.
