That does look great. Another game I need to watch for among many others...

After the total failure of a game that was Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers this new Xenoblade is a warm welcome to the Wii owners looking for a quality RPG!!

Hmmm....

Looks pretty rough. A little research showed that this was initially promoted with an entirely different title. It has no relation to Xenogears or Xenosaga, but it was given a Xeno- name to arbitrarily help the game attract attention. Also, there is some mention the game has a low MSRP for a new title, implying that it's a bargain release.

Not a good sign. When a RPG can't attract attention on a system nearly devoid of them, then there's problems.

As for the gameplay footage, I can't really tell anything from that. It looks pleasant, not as pleasant as any other current gen RPG, but at least as pleasant as the PS2 Tales games, Xenosaga, or Sakura Wars.

The sites I found mentioning this game didn't indicate there would be a North American release. Considering it has Nintendo as a publisher, I'm initially doubtful it will get an English release. I'd say chances are that Nintendo will sit on it since it doesn't have nostalgic value or Nintendo franchise power, and they have historic hostility toward the RPG genre.

I could be wrong, though.

As for anything else, it's impossible to tell. There's even less shown about this than was shown about Arc Rise Fantasia.

The makers of Disaster can do no wrong on the Wii. This'll be a blind buy for me once it arrives in the west :)

Your right Nintendo hates Zelda and all the money it has made for them, stupid RPG games

Zelda isn't a RPG by any measure and is a Nintendo owned franchise anyway.

True.

Your argument of Nintendo having a "historic hostility toward the RPG genre" doesn't make much sense either though, considering that Nintendo created some of the best RPG series of all time, be it Fire Emblem, Mother, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi or Golden Sun.

Nintendo is notorious among RPGers for sitting on the majority of the Mother series and not bringing it to the U.S.

Fire Emblem is only NOW starting to get US exposure after years of Nintendo intentionally keeping it behind the curtain. It's a huge series in Japan. The whole library here consists of 5 games, mostly handheld. I think other companies tried to bring Fire Emblem to the US in the past, but Nintendo denied permission.

Oh sure, they have no problem with RPGs when they feature Mario or Pokemon. I didn't say otherwise.

But this game isn't Mario, Pokemon, or even an installment in the recognizable Xeno-franchise. It's just a random RPG by Monolithsoft. Because of that, I seriously doubt that Nintendo would publish it for the English market. It doesn't fit with their image of the Wii.

If Nintendo passes it's first right of publication for other markets, then Atlus or NIS America can possibly pick it up. But considering Nintendo's history of sitting on things like Mother, I doubt it will happen. It depends on what agreements Monolithsoft has with Nintendo for publishing. I'm just saying that "NINTENDO" label as the publisher causes some concern.

The Wii needs RPGs though.

I was wondering about that. Thanks for clarifying.

Well, it's not always the game that's at fault. Most of the time it's the marketing/PR teams and their strategies.

Wow, Xenoblade just got announced for Europe! I'd normally consider it an April fools hoax, but there's an official Xenoblade page right on nintendo.de:

Hey, so I might actually buy a Wii game in 2011 after all! ;)

WOW... I just watched the trailer linked below on Nintendo Everything and this game REALLY looks good!! I'm highly, highly interested!!

One thing I found funny.... while watching the trailer, I couldn't help but think how much it reminded me of Monster Hunter.

TRAILER (a little different than the original posted by Manuel)
