Woh bring out the big guns, it's pac-man :lust:

[edit] There are several versions of the Atari pac-man game, if possible please make sure you use the one with the title screen 'attract mode' showing the characters and nicknames screen after a minute or so. The file version without them is easier. If you have another version where the ghosts don't move it's not the right game either ;) Start from default Cherry level (I know it's slow to start with).

Atarimania has ROM (above) and I think proper versions are titled pac-man (v1).ATR and pac-man (v2).XEX on atarionline.pl

I'm adding 1 bonus point for the highest score on screen 1, take a screen shot ;)

If you've never heard of this game well you are the round yellow ... only kidding :D

Game closes Sunday 2nd May 2010 10am GMT
:)

Using standard 8K version of cartridge, I got 93910 as a start. I hope to beat that so no screen shot yet.

I've always hated Pac Man... just like I hated other super-popular classics like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Joust, Mario Brothers and Tetris.

I don't know about Mario Brothers and Tetris, but the others are pretty popular. I was at a birthday part yesterday and put on the Atari and most people knew Pac-man, Donkey Kong and Space Invaders were classics and these are your modern generation kids.

I don't mean super-popular on just Atari, but arcade and other computers too. Tetris was unbelievably popular in the late 80's/early 90's. I thought it sucked. There are a few other super-popular games I hated, but can't remember them at the moment.

I generally hate Japanese games and game companies - like Taito, Konami, Sega, Nintendo, etc. I've always found Japanese games to be confining, boring and repetitive. I'm sure they started getting good games with 16-bit (wouldn't know, I was into Amiga at the time), but I absolutely hate 8-bit games by these all these companies.

So we've established Mr.Amiga500 only likes playing Montezuma's Revenge 16K Parker Brothers and Blue Max and he hates a ton of stuff ;) Try Ataritris II for a decent Tetris, how can you not like DK it's a superb game on the A8?! What else do you like playing, c'mon there must be one other game in there, what about Blue Max 2001 :?:

p.s. I'm going to crush some of your scores (like a fly) (sorry atariksi but it's my catchphrase) in the april bonus tourney later as you're only 1.5 pts behind, not to mention Cebus who is also leading 3 of the 10 games

Noooooo! Don't crush me like a fly! I hate flies! Have some pity. I don't want to have to play those games again.

One hint is that you should use power pill to finish dots in levels 3 & 4 where monsters can catch-up to Pac-man.

94,440 Wow adrenaline pumpin action... managed to get to pomegranate 2? Pretty awesome score there atariksi, it seems I don't do so well on the real classics so we may get a new winner this time (unless Fandal make a showing ;) ).

C'mon folks only 10 days left in the April Bonus Tourney - only 1 go on each game will net you an easy 10 HSC points, plus qualifying bonus 5pts if you make the target in all 10 games... What are you waiting for, let's see some scores being posted :?:

After that pomegranate is the "key" level and it stays at that level after that.

Oh, I'm just warming up. I hope to find some more time to play again soon.

I love this one. I was so excited to see a Pac-Man that looked like Pac-Man in those days. Still like it today. I will post scores soon.

It's not bad if you didn't grow up playing the game like I did. Spent many quarters as well on this game so that experience helps.
