That gives him 7+11 = 18 points so he beats you easily. Your scores would qualify for first and second which are consecutive in the list so only one of them applies. You have to score in such a way that your scores are non-consecutive and honest.

Other possibility is that there are two users with the same exact user id with perhaps a case difference which wasn't taken into account above. I have seen someone named bountybob pop up here and there.

Let me knock his second incarnation with this score. I'm now stuck on 2nd level-- there's too many keys. It's easier to get the torch on 2nd level. I did the first level without the torch.

Thanks for that, but I can count you know. I learned counting in university. (First year, we just learned the numbers, but in second year we could count all the way up to 20. By third year, I was adding two numbers... as long as they were integers and the sum stayed under 20. ;))

That must be an advanced university (oxford?). I suppose in kindergarten they taught you how to get non-consecutive high scores so that your scores count more than once. I.e., you can win a bronze and silver which is more medals than just winning a gold.

Here are some pictures for "show & tell":

1. The beginning of level 9 (actually level 10 - level 9 just repeats) - notice how it starts dark

2. Psyche! No torches! I found out the hard way that all torches disappear on level 9. Soon after that, I died 11 times in a row in a place I usually easily pass... when I can see! Luckily I had something like 21 lives.

3. After my fifth time on level 9 (that's level 13 to you mathematicians out there), I started to get tired of wandering in the dark and I started making silly mistakes. I ended up in the flames. Still... 710400 isn't bad. ;)
WOW! You're really good at this game. :)
Does the score roll at 999,990 points?

Don't tell me you're so bad at this game that you died on the first screen.
Ok, i don't get it. I got to the 3rd level. Surely you can't be serious. lol :) 8)

You can't die on the first screen so it was written as a joke.

The maps aren't really that big of a deal for levels 1 and 2 since it's getting through those traffic-full screens that's the hard part and figuring out which keys correspond to which doors and which ones are really necessary that makes the difference. In fact, I used to play King's Quest and gradually came up with a map as I played.

So you figured out how to get that sword in no-man's land?

*Lookout Mr.Amiga, for I am steadily narrowing the gap by which my score can be compared to your lofty standard in terms of a percentage: 61600/710400= 0.0867117;
My current Rank = 8.67% :P
I figure if I can achieve a Ranking of "50%" in deference to you, I will have had an exceptional Run. However, in the event that you are able to improve on the impossible, this function will have to be adjusted accordingly: Rank=[(A/C+X)x100%];A=challenger's score, C(amiga-constant)=710400, X=variable.

It's not impossible to improve on that. You keep getting extras every 10K. It's like Defender-- as long as you have the ability to get 10K before dieing, you should be able to play forever.

Your equation writing abilities suck. You can't make it variable and have a constant. It's just A/A'*100% if you want to look at it in terms of percentage. A' is Amiga500's high score and A is yours.

I played a few times studying what was necessary and then played for real and already got into level 4. It seems at level 4, new obstacles started showing up. Level 3 was easier than level 2.

Believe me, I am worried (...just not about you ;)). I'm not just strutting down the street with a cocky attitude with my big-collared shirt unbuttoned while leaning at a crazy 105° angle with a "shit-eating grin" on my face. No way. I thought at least three people here would be able to loop the counter. The game's not that hard. It only gets tricky when you can't see.

I was on a record setting pace until I got stuck in some room where there were no lights, two spiders, a fire pit, and a blinking platform. I lost all my men in that one room (more than a dozen).

Ah.... I know that room well... (said as my mind drifts back to painful memories, much like a Vietnam vet... remembering in slow motion... the screaming, the yelling, the swearing....)

Whew, I drifted a bit there. But I'm OK now.

To get that sword you have to give up a life, so i skip that sword.

roadrunner's tip - the first level can be finished without getting the torch.

edited for spelling. :x

Some random tips:

1. For atariski's "double spider fire pit room" - that one is a bit tricky when coming from the right. I usually jump one spider, then jump back, then jump the second spider and jump back - so I don't have to land on the bridge. Then I wait for the spiders to go halfway over the bridge. That way, I have room to get the bridge timing right and avoid the spiders.

2. The room with one skull, bridge over the fire pit and one "chain" - never attempt to pass that one from the left. From the right, it's no problem, but it's nearly impossible to do it the other way. One time, I lost 10 guys there just attempting it.

3. Completely avoid the "fast double skull, mini fire pit room area". There's nothing down there but pain and frustration. You'll lose a white key too.

4. Try to go for the "three sword, three jewel room" past the "double spider, mini fire pit, chain room" (like my descriptions?) - and kill the spiders. Spiders get more points than skulls.

5. Why the hell am I giving tips? (I should be giving false "tips" to screw everybody up)

Let me guess... the skull got you when you came in the room, right? Man, what a time to die - just when you see the torch.

I bettered my score a little on the next try. The spiders got me five times in the last few minutes. My timing was really off.

And yes, the numbers are halfway erased because the color cycling/screensaver mode came on before I could get a working camera. But at least this time there was no box with "mute" covering one of the corners. :P

I think the score reads 36,380. I'd rather it read 38,360, but I'm pretty sure it is the lower number.

Thanks for the tips, Mr. Amiga. I will use the swords more on the spiders, rather than on the skulls. The spiders seem to be more difficult to jump, so it's a help to target them as well.

the real bounty bob,

I just noticed that you had not only yourself, but me as well on the monty table twice. And the higher score was my pac-man score rather than my montezuma score.

I do appreciate the help though, and if you add my two scores together and do some ratios I might be really close in total score to Mr. A. :)
