Robotron:2084
Atarimaniahas ROM version, atarionline.pl has XEX and ATR versions.

Game Closes on Sunday 14th June 10am GMT :)

Let's kill some Grunts, Hulks, Brains, Spheroids, Electrodes, and Mutants Progs... Is that the same Spheroids from M.U.L.E.?... I think they should be spared... Nah ;) Basically move about and kill everything and rescue "defenseless humans" who somehow don't die when they are repeatedly shot... unlike the robots who die at the merest whiff of a bullet, hmm, makes me wonder how come they need rescuing in the first place :D

Atarimania rating 7.9

Play on default setting (level 1) but, without causing (me) major moral dilemmas, if you are one of the players who finds this game way too tough (as in you struggle to beat the first three screens) you can play on difficulty level 0.

If anyone knows about the joystick coupler please post - yes you can use it ;)

Have fun :)

I suck at this game HARD!!!!

1 x Proline 29725
1 x CX40 25250
2 x CX40 12570
2 x CX40 in the official Robotron joystick holder ;-) 19725

Playing with two joysticks is WAY too hard for me!

78250 is now my official high score!

The XEX version 3 crashes or has other issues. ATR version looks okay so far.

Game reminds me of Berzerk but in this case you can touch the walls and robot moves faster and shoots multiple times. The variety of enemies and obstacles in later waves reminds me of Millipede with all those different bugs attacking you (and even the sounds sound familiar). Probably should do better with two joysticks since with one you have to move in the direction you shoot at but then getting used to two joysticks requires a learning curve.

Forgot to put my score image (I'll try with two joysticks later):

I tried two joysticks: left hand move, right hand fire was ok, but when I swapped these over it broke my brain :-o (I'm right handed so must be why)... did much better with a single stick :)

Maybe for more than just now... is this gonna be your big breakthough game in the HSC, with three of you on 57pts it could be a decisive game :?: I wonder if Mr.A will be back after having to dress up as a novelty extra man letter in Mr Do! :?: :P

May need to get one person to fire while the other person moves around. Two heads are better than one.

Now, whenever the ice-cream truck comes by my house, I'm reminded of Mr. Do; perhaps, mr. A is the ice-cream truck driver.

206375 although image got blurred a bit. I used two joysticks-- helps a lot. I now have a 18-bit score. You needed 8K more to get into 18-bit land.

127,425 I blew it :x

I had an old copy of Robotron that had corrupted graphics on level 7, the xex version (linked above) is fine. My only strategy is to take out the red ring things and collect the people before finishing off the waves :ponder:

In preparation for July's HSC Bonus Round (what do you mean you've never heard of it?!) I've added a new topic for you all to vote on :!:

Slight improvement. I think we need to keep a separate list of those scores done with single joystick as it's much harder game with single joystick. Perhaps, an additional point to top three using single joystick. I can hardly make 100K with single joystick.

p.s. I'm still playing His Dark Majesty it's a truely awesome game; sort of Archon meets Ultima III battles. It's already one of my all time favourite Atari games
I'm stuck on this big battle, necromancers, zombies and serpents are causing me a bit of jip :D HisDarkMajesty.jpg

It looks like some flimsy plastic thing-- how can that strongly hold two joysticks? Or is that some hard solid plastic that doesn't move that easily?

I haven't been using any joystick coupler. I just have a PC simulating the 2nd joystick while I use a normal joystick for the first port. So I bang on the keys to fire while moving the first joystick.

If I just use one joystick, I got 99,900 top score so far otherwise I get over 200K.

On Atari800winplus i use a gamepad controller to move and the keyboard arrow keys to fire.
Let your fingers do the firing. :) :jango:

Give it a shot with one joystick and see what you can get. Using two joysticks takes getting used to them and that's one of the reasons I don't play much of any modern games-- the controls are too complex. Especially when you play hundreds of games, you don't want to remember all those controls or have a big learning curve. Just pop in the game and start playing.

Somehow managed to get to see level 14 :) 159,800 think I need three or four joysticks :D I think this is a game where the extra NTSC speed would be a plus as sometimes he just doesn't move quickly enough :x

Please vote in the Bonus Round Preliminary if you haven't already ;)
