Mine are alphabetical, but I would like another folder separated by companies. I tried doing it myself but there are just too many to sort through :x

I don't have a Harmony yet but I have both an alphabetical list and a "by company" list on my Cuttle Cart II. Can you do that on Harmony or would you have to duplicate files?

The Harmony can only display the order of the files as they appear on the SD card. To order alphabetically and by company you would need to create two subdirectories (one for each order) and duplicate the files.

I have about 20 folders labelled by publisher generally: Activision, Atari, Coleco, Imagic, etc. I also have a folder called Homebrews and another called Prototypes. Inside each of these I just lump in all the ROMs from that particular publisher. I don't bother sorting out paddle vs. joystick, but instead make sure that is incorporated in the file name: Asteroids_Joystick.A26, Super_Breakout_Paddle.A26, etc.

I use a small utility called DIRSORT to sort the files in each folder alphabetically.

This system works well for me, but some folks sort their roms by genre: racing, shooting, sports, etc.

You have to duplicate files, but since Harmony uses SD cards and not MMC like the CC2, you can get them with a much larger capacity such that duplicating files many times over will not come remotely close to filling the card.

is it OK to post our sorted folder in a zip for others to use?
i have created also by company, pal, ntsc (i live in europe), protos, hb, hacks.
I used various resources such as atarimania v5, Hacks_and_Homebrews_V1.2b_sorted, Atari 2600 (Good2600 v1.00) and others. i removed useless words from names like company, programmer and so on since they are already sorted in separate folders.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but is there some easy way of creating this type of directory structure? It would be a lot of work to create this manually, unless your collection is small.

You could download someone else's collection which is organized somewhat like this.
