Will the update download automatically?

Also, if you accidentally downloaded the update, will it brick the Wii or just remove the HB Channel?

No. They send a message to you and at the bottom of it is a button that will perform the update. The other way to get the update is through the system menus. Either way a warning dialog will pop up letting you know that if you have modified the unit (such as by installing HBC) the modified software will be removed and/or the system could be damaged. You have to agree to that dialog before it will perform the update. So you have plenty of opportunity to not do the update. As to what will happen, theoretically HBC and anything else with non-official title id's will be removed but I would not be surprised if a system were bricked. Nintendo does not seem to have much reservation about pushing out risky updates.

Nintendo changed their TOS as well. If I'm reading it right, just having the homebrew channel installed will get your system permabanned from all Nintendo online services. Great, I guess I won't be buying Conduit 2 and Goldeneye this fall after all. :(

 sounds like Wii is this generation where Xbox was last generation....pushing out potential customers while really doing nothing to stop "pirating" or whatever. :P

In case anyone hasn't noticed there is an HBC and Hackmii update. If you start HBC while online you will get a dialog informing you of the update. It will automatically download the update for you if you would like. Once you have installed the update it is safe to update your Wii to 4.3. I tried it and everything is working great.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll go ahead and update now :)

Thanks a whole lot Hyper_Eye. I did the HBC update last week when it came out. I still haven't upgraded to 4.3 yet cause I wasn't sure. I was going to check into it first before I actually did it. The last time I did the same thing. Waited for the HBC update and THEN updated to 4.2.

Thanks again

If anyone is using a loader you may have to re-install your IOS (249 or 250 etc). Your HBC channel may be ok but 4.3 may have "disabled" your loader (USB loader GX, Wiiflow etc).
