is anyone on a mission to own a copy of every homebrew cart ever released? are any of you at that point already? are you including only AA games or games from other websites too?

Part of the problem would be how would you define a release?

Does that include every limited edition? Multiple variations of the same game? Releases of the same game by different publishers?

Seems to me someone tried to put together such a list once, and had a hard time defining what qualified. It's probably still somewhere in the 2600 forums.

i personally would only count "normal" releases, excluding special editions. it's still the same game for the most part. for instance, i would count Skeleton and Skeleton+ as one item. i would only exclude "limited run" games if there is a "normal" run that coexists with it.

...yeah, you're right. that is a pain to determine. lolz

I don't know if anyone is even still watching this topic here, but I can't say I'm on a mission to collect everything, I am looking for a good pile of (legally) free ROMs. I know a ton are hosted here on atariage. I've downloaded a handful, some I really like, but others are kind of lemons. I didn't want to start a new topic, because I feel like it's been discussed before, but if anyone reading this has made any homebrews, has any ROMs to suggest, or a link to a thread where this has all been discussed before, I'm all ears!

I have a definite urge to collect homebrew ROMs as they allow me to enjoy classic gaming on the go via a Harmony cart, PSP, Dingoo, XBox, GBA, etc..

Physical copies are a different story. With small runs collecting homebrew is not a game everyone can play or enjoy.

I only own 2 homebrews - Ladybug and Juno First (still in the mail at the moment) and there are a few others that I'd eventually like to get. There's some real talent out there and its really nice to have the option of buying a brand new Atari game. Its a great feeling :)

I've started a mini Homebrew collection. I certainly do not have the means to buy them all, but I'd like to keep adding homebrews that look fun and intriguing to me. Here's what I have so far:

Skeleton
Halo 2600
Cave In
Conquest of Mars
Toyshop Trouble
Dungeon

I also have hacks Haunted Adventure Trilogy, Mr. Roboto, and Berzerk Voice Enhanced

I'd like to get Skeleton+ and sell or trade Skeleton.

AtariLeaf: I agree, there's something about getting a brand new Atari 2600 game with the shiny labels and colorful manuals that is very cool.
