Thinking about the future I wanted to know how homebrew gets listed in the AtariAge store. I attempted to contact via the "Contact AtariAge" page but it's been a week or so.

In the meantime I was curious what other people experience has been getting their games listed. Is it a AtariAge contacted you situation? Is ebay the way to go? Hozers?

Whatever you do, don't have anything to do with Hozer! From what I've heard, I don't believe Hozer is a trustworthy operation.

I suspect that Albert is busy getting ready for CGE. Just be patient and I'm sure he'll get back to you as soon as he can.

The guy who is alpha-and-omega on AtariAge is Albert. He is very busy at the moment planning for the Classic Gaming Expo in Vegas. So, don't worry about the delay. I'm sure his e-mail inbox is overflowing at this point.

AtariAge can publish your work and put it in the store. My first homebrew, K.O. Cruiser, will be appearing at the CGE.

The only game AA ever published that was mine was GoSub, and that wasn't for very long. I've tried contacting Al in the past, but to no luck, so usually I just give up and go to Neo Games (publisher of all three of my Alien Greed games.)

The standard of the games in the AA store is very high. Your game needs to be complete, polished and bug free.

As others have said, with CGE just around the corner Albert is working flat out.

There are several AA people who can make carts for you if you want to go down the pre-order route.

Yes, Al is doing some quality and demand check. We have almost 70 Atari 2600 homebrews in the store, and at least 90% of them are really good IMO.

So if your game is good enough and/or there is already some demand for it, Al will add it to the store. Else you can try e.g. Packrat Video Games.

Wow! Looks like I *just* got in under the wire. I see the AtariAge store closed until August. Hope that doesn't mean my order is also going on vacation with 'em. I'd like to see my cart on the PANIC INC. blog (along with a nice link/free advertisement for AtariAge). These PANIC guys were the first choice to develop iTunes.

Anyhoo the Hozer guy sent me an email response same day. He can do up to 16k with SuperChip RAM. The one thumbs down in the topic is definitely something to think about though.

..uuuuh, oh. That's 40 pages of bad blood! I haven't found anything related to his actual custom cart service though. Only that his customers (and possibly himself) sell repos as a scam. With this much bad blood though.. may be a last resort if the other suggestions don't pan out. Thanks for the heads up!

The bad blood is based on basically scamming people - such as people on eBay. Check out the link in the first post of this thread:

That cartridge - the super rare Chainsaw Massacre - sold for $170. There is one problem though, it is a reproduction.

Your carts did go out today and I think you'll be quite happy with how they came out. I did send you an email earlier in the day, but perhaps you didn't see it.

As others have stated, I've been extremely busy getting ready for CGE. I'd be glad to work with you once I get back--I like what I've seen so far.

All this quality control stuff is making me feel uneasy about Trashmania getting in there. If it doesn't, that's fine, but I would feel dumb for sending it in if it doesn't make it.

I tried Hozer a couple years ago- Never again. The label started peeling off at the corners, revealing ET underneath. Pretty shoddy. There were other issues as well. As a last resort, buy an eprom burner and do it yourself, at least you can control the quality that way.

Another alternative is to have AtariAge create one for you: http://atariage.com/...ct_detail&p=949

For just $20, they can create a custom cartridge! I own a cartridge created by AA, and the quality is exceptional.

In my opinion quality control is a good thing. It gives the homebrew developer a level of polish to aim for.
