I thought the opening F-bomb was juvenille, but I was not offended. The graphics and quality of the site design are - in my opinion - excellent. The graphics are great and clear. Many commercial sites are so poor that I can't knock atari7800.com for polish. Be nice if the proprietor could get to work on Best Electronic's site. I'll bet web sales would increase if he/she did.
The f-bomb is the main reason I couldn't include it in the list of links in the Retro Gamer 7800 article.

The only thing I wonder about is the account there of Tramiel "hating" the 7800 and only utilizing it as a response to the NES; wgungfu said it was actually tied up in conflict with General Computer. I'd like clarification.
From me or him? He was probably just going by the oft repeated myths. The 7800, like the Amiga deal and many others, were not part of the sale to Tramiel. They were deals done through Warner and executed via their Atari subsidiary, which confuses a lot of people that aren't familiar with that. Tramiel thought the console should be part of the original deal, Warner wouldn't do it unless he ponied up for the development costs of Maria and the 10 launch titles to GCC. They negotiated on and off through that Spring when Tramiel finally relinquished and paid GCC for Maria. Then the negotiations for the 10 launch games went on and were completed by the end of Summer, when Jack started looking to relaunch a video games division consisting of the 2600 cost reduced version and the 7800. This was all long before the NES test marketing in New York. He started wooing Michale Katz (then at Epyx) right away, who agreed to do it if the new division was expanded to be an Entertainment Electronics Division (he had goals of expanding Atari in to other consumer entertainment devices again). He was formally announced as being head of the new division in late October/very early November.
