Interesting looking SIO device on EBay (together with an Atari Basic cart in a dual ZIF socket board).

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 360292542977

... if only the seller shipped outside the USA!

Is there any reason to doubt the theory stated...that it is an interface to use commercial tape recorders instead of a 410/1010?

The PCB could be a hack of Atari's Basic that corrects some rev.A glitches. There were lots of people that did this on their own after the bugs had been documented...well before Atari released their own rev.C cartridge (prompted by the rev.B fiasco).

In the 80th in east europe many users had not enought west german mark for the 1050
disk drive. I know two types of turbo tape interface for use with commercial tape
recorder but you need not many parts so i prefer the voice master theory.
