Back a few years before I was interested I SWORE I SAW a 2600 ROM for the prototype 2600 version of Treasure of Tarmin. A few years later I swore I saw a Youtube video of the 2600 version. Even thought I saw a link to the Youtube video here at AtariAge.

The kidscentre.com thinks they have the ROM (but they don't)

Chris Ware from associated content thinks that a ROM is out there:

Did the ROM exist? Did the Men in Black wipe Youtubes memory of all 2600 Tarmin videos? Am I tottaly going coo coo for Cocoa Puffs?

The ROM is not available to the general public. Not sure about the Youtube video, but I've never heard of it.

BSR are sitting on the ROM, due to paranoia.

Well, from all the screenshots I've seen Batari BASIC can %90 percent replicate the prototypes graphics. I'd bet that someone recreates it first.

* Multi sprite kernel use
* Playfield pixels for side walls
* Secondary sprite for wall up ahead (quad-sized)
* Primary sprite for close monster (double-sized)
* Score mini-kernel with additional characters for 18/080 display
* Secondary sprites for E (direction) and bow icon.. maybe 06 display too
if sprites can be put on separate scanlines
* One more secondary sprite for thrown objects

Why?

It already exists and I don't think the BSR will be too happy about it (let alone WotC).

Better take one that's (still) vapourware.

Both exist, so why re-create one?

because if it is indeed one a kind, hoarded and will never see the light of day, then it may as well never exist. so the bb proposal is > nothing.

I still don't really understand the issue here. Wouldn't it be relatively trivial to remove all traces of the D&D brand name from these unreleased ROMs? I can't imagine that Wizards of the Coast has any IP rights over the gameplay, graphics, etc. in these titles -- it's just the AD&D name, and maybe the associated subheadings (Tarmin, Tower of Mystery).

The BSR were able to release all three D&D ROMs for Intellivision, in alternate versions with alternate names, on Intellivision Lives! I can't imagine that the VCS versions would have more D&D-specific text in them. I'm sure there are other reasons not to release these ROMs -- time, energy, etc. -- but the legal reasoning has never made sense to me.

I was trying to guess which games you meant by "vaporware".

Please! Elaborate! I'm really curious :)

Oh, there are tons of them.

Just pick one here (tip of the iceberg, btw - a lot of these titles were WIP and thus not really vaporware) and start brewing:
