it looks neat and all, but i am not going to pay for a alpha version of any game just to play it sorry. i will buy one once its final but until then nope.
Once it's final, the price doubles.

Besides, as the over 500 thousand purchases so far attest, even in an "alpha" state it already has at least as much gameplay as a lot of released games. Anyone thinking of spending the piddling amount to purchase it just has to ask themself two questions:

1. Do I like sandbox games?
2. Do I like games that let me build things?

If the answer to both of those questions is yes, go for it. And you don't get a static product... it automatically updates to the current version. These are usually once a week -- always adding new features or improving existing ones -- but for the last few weeks they've been working on the huge Halloween Update.

Im not saying i don't or wont like it but as it sits now i lack the funds to purchase, it don't bother me on paying double for a finalized game. i just don't like the fact on paying to test a alpha either. once its in final i will decide.

I love sandbox games and i love to build things, that's why i bought Gmod a while ago.

Indeed, this game is addicting. Enough said.

you might wanna check out the vids from this guy,
recording his adventure from the beginning

A few other Let's Play series that some folks might find interesting:

JX23: (About 47 eps so far. Will probably be restarting after JX23 gets bored with Black Ops)

SeaNanners: (About 18 episodes)

Coe's Quest: (87+ episodes and still going strong, released just about daily.)

And for those who wonder why their arrows never seem to reach a ghast, despite how close they look, this is how big they really are - so they're a heck of a lot further away than most people seem to assume. Aim much higher.

Mega necro!

I just started playing this. So far, I'm having a TON of fun with it. Getting a little frustrating dying all the time, but I hope that I can get some good weapons and armor so I can start exploring some mines and caves.

My recommendation would be to make yourself a bed if you're playing single player right now. At sunset, drop the bed and sleep the night away.

And if you wander enough, you'll eventually find villages. Here's a pic of one of the largest ones I've found so far. I decided to settle down there for the time being. I hear caves below it, and I'll likely do a branch mine finally. During my wanderings (This is like 10k east of where my normal spawn is.) i poked my head down into enough caves to build up the supply of iron and coal I had. hunted random chickens/cows/pigs as I went to get stacks of food to continue. :)

Haven't built anything in this world yet, but that's about to change. First step will be to make a brick house - since I was digging up clay from the swamps I passed along the way. ;)
