I'll jump in on this one. Preppie II was always one of my favorites. Never played Preppie very much, though:

Great score on Preppie II; I need to get at least half of that.

Meanwhile, I can't get past level 6 on Preppie I because I keep running out of time.

At last, the weekend and some HSC time!

Preppie 1: 10,370

I have a few questions and observations.

Has anyone else noticed that on some of the boats in Preppie I, you can jump onto the tips, while others you cannot? Is there any rhyme or reason to this? And I also noticed that you can land on the alligators' tails, but if you try to move left or right on a tail then you die. Is this true every time?

And finally, is there a real benefit to getting to higher levels in Preppie I? I got my highest score by using up all my men on level five over and over again, rescuing all the golf balls except one, repeatedly. When I cruised through level five, I ended up with a lower score.

I still can't beat level six. Impressive play Divya16.

Preppie I: 11,860

Still can't beat level 6. Down to one golf ball.

Going quickly through the levels seems to have paid off this time, however, in a higher score.

Preppie! II 44,600 :)

You die moving on the crocs and landing on their tails and too near the edges of the boats ;) Fire button is only for cloak in P2. P1 it's a gamble as you can get more dying when you've got three balls nearly done, but should really make every effort to do each screen in the spirit of things, every level done makes more points in the long run. Take the easier ones first to get the points in the bank. Wait for crocs mouths to open and close before setting off in both directions but rush past the last one... no audio warning when low on time. I've got to level 8 so think it's possible to get to 10 :!: Has anyone got this far before, does the game max out :?:

Someone fix that DOOR :P

Fire button is used in Preppie I, but it's actually bad that they made it that way. I rather get on the boats/logs/alligators without having to press the button like in Frogger. Level 7 is faster paced so time isn't a big concern as it is in level 6 but I was on my last turn when I got to level 7 so didn't get enough time to play around.

Here's my latest Preppie II score:

Divya - you get enough bonus on P2 for saving the cloak already!
skr - nice job on atariksi's car ... I think the Green Preppie (player 2) was seen leaving the scene :D
Preppie 3 anyone :?: more comments from author here and may as well check out this one for the full set

Honestly: The gameplay of Preppie II is so boring that the hardest part is to just stay awake. I was so unbelieveable happy when I finally died... ;-)

One thing: My first scores were played on a NTSC XEGS, everything was fine. Now I played at home in Kiel on my PAL 800 XL, and half of the doors (Preppie II) just do not work. The files are the same, so is there a PAL bug or something like that?

Anyway:

Preppie: 16890
prep_nhs.jpg

Preppie II: 27560
prep2_nhs.jpg

Total: 16890 + 27560 = 44450

Update:
Preppie: 17290
prep1.jpg

Total: 17290 + 27560 = 44850

My car is silver. My tires will be fixed this weekend so I'll be back in business (or back in play) tomorrow or Monday. I see a couple of people have already hit 16-bit scores in Preppie II. This thread has exploded since I last checked.

New scores for me:

Preppie: 16,720!

Preppie II: 47,920!

Combined total: 64,640!

Sorry, Bob. I didn't follow the "keep it an even number" score, but 64640 is easy to type too. ;)

Okay, I'm back and made it to level 8. Those front row cars are a killer.

I had the same problem. Turns out the ROM I had was corrupt. The good one I have is attached:

Anyway, latest score on Preppie 2... 8980. (Thanks for pointing out the better image.)
