All,

I spent the better part of an hour looking around the Internet for a high-quality Atari Jaguar wallpaper to no avail. So, after playing around with my Jag and JagCD boxes on a much too small scanner, and then spending an hour or so of clipping, matching and retouching, I had what I wanted. This wallpaper is of the familiar eyes and logo, in 1024x768 and 1754x1276 resolutions. Anyone who needs a copy is welcome to it. Here's how you get it:

Go to http://www.bigvault.com
Select Login button
Under the visitor login, type in "nitecretr" for the vault and "jaguar" for the password, all lowercase
You should be able to access the files.

Comments, criticisms, screams of rage or ecstasy or whatever are appreciated.

Very nice! Would it be possible for you to make an uncompressed version of this image? The jpeg artifacts (especially around the edges of the red Jaguar letters) are pretty noticeable on my LCD panels.

Now that you've pointed it out, I can see what you mean, but just barely. I don't have a flat panel or laptop so it looks OK on my display. My scanner is el cheapo and I'm using a copy of Paintshop rather than Photoshop. I'm sure you've heard the saying, you're only as good as your tools. :D Maybe some real graphic artist out there (who also happens to be a Jag fan) will do this logo justice and clean it up a bit.

Of course, if someone were to drop me a copy of Battlesphere Gold I might be motivated to take on that task myself. ;)

All,

Being the perfectionist that I am, I kept fiddling with the Jaguar Wallpaper until I had eliminated all the JPEG artifacts. How did I do this, you may ask? First, I painstakingly cleaned the pics. Then, I saved them in a file format other than JPG. See! No JPEG's, no JPEG artifacts! :D Seriously though, saving the images as JPEG's produced artifacts no matter how clean the originals were. So, I've saved a bitmapped version which is squeaky clean, but much, much larger (of course) than the JPEG versions. These pics, however, should look great on LCD screens. Since I don't have a flat screen or laptop I can't check them out, but they should look much better than the first versions. The new files are in the same directory but are named NewJaguar1754.bmp and NewJaguar1024.bmp. Enjoy.

P.S. And I didn't even get a BattleSphere Gold!
