Buddybuddies and I are happy to announce the upcoming release of Poker for the Lynx console. The game will be available online near the end of the month (if everything works out we will be accepting orders around the 24th). LynxGod will also be bringing the first batch of 10 copies to Jagfest X so that attendees can get a look at the game and will have the opportunity to purchase a copy.

The cost will be $30.00 + S&H and will include a cartridge with color label.

The Jagfest X edition will be limited to 10 numbered copies and will be produced on a Green PCB. The online release will use black PCB's and will not reference Jagfest X nor will it be numbered.

Pictures of the Jagfest X version are attached, as well as a few screenshots of the game. We will also show some pics of the normal release once they become available!

Big thanks to our cartridge producer and to Lynxgod for helping us distribute this at the Jagfest X show!

"LYNX RULES!"

I am really pleased to be a small part of this great new release.

The Jagfest X numbered copies will be £20 each at the show and can be reserved in advance by sending me a PM.

Anyone else who wishes to buy the Limited Edition version from me may PM me in advance if they wish but please note that they will not be available until after Jagfest has finished and it will be on a first come first served basis from any remaining copies I have left after the show!

Lynx Rules!!!

Shot a PM this morning. I was hoping this would get released and the proto wasn't lost. Have we figured out if this was a homebrew project or an Atari working title? I'm excited about this and thank all of those involved in getting this on a cart!

looking at those screenshots... this does look like an official 'atari' work in progress from back in the day! I'm really excited about playing this one!

Looks great, what variants does the game play (personally, I like to play Omaha very much)?

Agreed, we need some background information. Also how playable is it? How complete?

Someone needs to come forth with information about this game! :)

nice to see there is some interest in this release :)

Yes, this is an original proto, if you look closely at the cartridge images we have the modification date on the face of the label (06.09.94).

The game seems to be complete, we were in a rush to meet the deadline for Jagfest so the first batch went directly to lynxgod, but on an emu the only bug I've seen is a card not showing for one hand after they are all dealt. This is very infrequent though!

I´m afraid I must pass on this release, as I am not into card games... and out of cash. But it is nice to see a game from back in the day finally released.

Is this from one of those Atari computers that were sold on eBay a while ago?

Nope... It was a strange EBAY purchase.
Here's are the pics from the auction
There was a thread about it, but I am too lazy to look that up

True... it is strange, but it isn't much different then the ones that Atari used. I have a lot of their test boards that look like this without all of the components on it. The battery holder here is an interesting thing... as well as the chip soldered in under the EPROM.
The original proto looks as though it has save capabilities.

Does the reproduction have the same abilities, or was that bypassed when it was produced?

It's a pleasant surprise that Team Jaguar isn't just putting out Jag stuff. Glad this is getting released. Put me on the buyer list and let me know when it's officially available! :D

Is there any credits/names visible in the game? Or any other clues on who made this game?

@T2KFreeker: Our idea right now is to produce a limited edition of 50 with full packaging for $35. We will also be making a cart-only standard edition permanantly available for $30. Jagfest edition buyers will also get the option to get full packaging too.

@Swedenlynxer: No indication of who programmed this or any sort of company credits are in the game (aside from what you see on the title screen).

@Eric, there does seem to be a battery save feature, but the cartridges we sell won't have it. The feature was intended to save your total stats (see the dark blue screen), I actually think it's nicer that your stats get reset after every play session for comparative purposes.

@108 Stars, thanks for the comments, I agree it's always nice to see old protos surface. Even if you don't know how to play there are some options for beginners that are helpful (like the auto-hold feature), but it's understandable that some don't like card games or don't want to learn how to play them :)

Well, since you don´t plan to limit the game itself I don´t have to decide immediately. :)
I´ll probably pick up a copy later on.^^

A dumb question, since you already dumped the game... but did you ever use it with an HEX-editor? There might be infos on the devs...

I'm excited to play this even if there isn't a battery back-up! I hope that doesn't turn people away from purchasing this. I think the artwork is fantastic on this.

I can't wait to couple this with Solitaire!
