Can you recommend a "doom-like" game for the Wii or Gamecube?

For some reason I never linked in my head Doom and the Gamecube. I know you said Doom-like but I never saw a release of Doom on the Gamecube, it would have been a great port, even if it was just a rerelease.

I can't think of a Doomlike for the GCN/Wii :?

If you are referring to an FPS game where you kill invading aliens with various weaponry, then I suggest The Conduit.

For GameCube, I can suggest Star Wars - Jedi Outcast. :)

Serious Sam (GameCube) is as close as you will get to a DOOM-style first person shooter on the GameCube. It's good, and should be cheap. It's hard as **** though on the higher difficulty levels!

I'm unfamiliar with Serious Same for the Gamecube... is it the same Serious Sam that is available on XboxLive Arcade?

Yep, it was a multiplatform release for the last generation, and they got it HD afied for the xbla.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will see if I can find these on Ebay. Is Doom 4 being released on the Wii also?

Doubtful, but believe me, I am every bit for being able to play Doom on everything possible as you are!

I know if your not afraid to have your Wii modded with the HB channel, there is a HB Wii port of Doom that you can use the Wiimote with.

You CAN play Doom and Doom II (Doom II port is WAY better) on the Game Cube if you get ahold of the GBA ports of Doom, and the Gameboy Player for the GC. You can go full screen with it too :)

Nope. It was a brand-new game specifically for the GameCube and PlayStation 2. It was called "Serious Sam: The Next Encounter".

The XBOX received an enhanced port of the original Serious Sam PC game. It later got a port of the PC sequel, Serious Sam 2 (Not the original follow-up, the "Second Enounter"). As you know, both the First and Second Encounters were remade for PC and 360 recently. These specific games didn't make it to the GameCube or PS2 though.

Well, if you like Doom, there is certainly a game that stimulates all the same fun centers of the brain as Doom....it is called Metroid Prime. Lots of ugly creatures jumping out at you, great visuals and music, you might want to check it out, it's kind of OK.... Morgan

The hands down best FPS experience you can have on the Wii from the Gamecube gen is TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (TS3). TS2 is rated Teen, TS:FP is rated Mature for the strong horror theme and some raunchy humor. Both are great games with tons of replay value, and are fantastic split-screen fun.

Wii FPS games of note include the Call of Duty series, The Conduit, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, and some lackluster ports of Brothers in Arms 1 and 2. Look for Wii games that support classic controllers, otherwise you end up looking into the sky everytime you scratch your ear.

More Gamecube: XIII would be fun, but the controls are more suited to a mouse. Geist. Any of the Call of Duty games from last gen are great, even without online. The PS2 COD games stil have active servers even for the first COD game.

I hold great hope for Conduit 2 in Feb. It will support multiple control set-ups, will have online and split-screen multiplayer, will use the PDP Headbanger mic, and they are building in a patch system so they can patch to eliminate cheats and exploits.

Still, if you are on a budget, or maybe just a casual gamer, go with TimeSplitters--its money well spent.

Ah yes, if the cube Timesplitters is anything like the Xbox version I could highly reccomend it. I imagine I would have liked it better on the GC, just because of the controller. Morgan

I played the hell out of TS2 and TS:FP on the PS2. I was a launch buyer for Future Perfect on the PS2 and loved to play online, all the way up until they cut the servers. No online means all versions are the same now.

I got a Gamecube when the Wii launched, and snagged the GC versions of both games to play with my kids, and the Cube/XBox/PS2 versions all play the same. The XBox and Cube versions look smoother with the anti-aliasing that is missing from the PS2 hardware. I haven't broken out TS:FP for the kids yet, but with the Wii Homebrew scene and the ability to share maps via SD card and the internet, I am just about ready to start finding some maps and playing TS:FP with my kids. Its a "light" mature, so no worries.

As said already, Gamecube got a completely new Serious Sam game called "Next Encounter". I played through FE and SE on PC and then played through it again when both those games were contained in the Xbox release of Sam. I was very happy that the GC version of the game was a new game. And it is a great Sam game packed with a lot of content and a lot of themes. I may be biased due to my high opinion of all things Sam but I give it 2 thumbs up and thoroughly recommend. It is also the closest you will get to a Doom experience on the Gamecube. On the Wii there is WiiDoom on the Homebrew Channel but I don't really care for it. I will be adding the Wii to the list of Odamex supported platforms in the near future though.
