Well, there's a Minimum Scoring Committee (MSC) charter which will not allow for such low scoring individuals to form a club. Clearly in section 4.2 section A part I it states:

"The lowest scores allowed for Ixion that can allow that individual to form a club must be >=131072 or 17-bits. This allows for 17-bit scoring club to have an acronym of SSC and eighteen bit scores to have an acronym of ESC (not to be confused with the Escape key) and ninteen bit scores to have an acronym of NSC. Sixteen bit scores would also be SSC so anyone forming a club with scores of 16-bits or below will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for confusion of acronym formation."

But cheer up if you don't like their tyrant-type mentality as later in section 4.2 section C, part II, it states:

"And 20-bit scores automatically put the scorer into TSC. However, if some member goes ballistic with this game and ends up with score of 21-bit (i.e., >=1048576), then this MSC charter and the committee will be dissolved and all members fired for thinking that such a high score isn't possible."

There's an appendix of error fixes in the charter which I just noticed so that value should be >=65536 for 17-bit not 131072 which would make it 18-bits. It's obvious from context. I just played this and I do notice that there's not only sloppy controls but also inconsistencies with bonuses and screens that come. I just got a screen with the red ball before the bonus whereas normally it comes after the red ball appears in the bonus. And I got 113 tiles in the first round in the bonus round and did not get the 10K bonus. So there you have it-- bugged, inconsistent, and slippery/sloppy controls.

I've taken myself out of the two bonus challenges so there's much to play for.

You can top the round 1 score by killing everything and then finishing the level before the timer runs out. (Not allowed to use the 2nd screen folks!) I managed 20K this way:



Something else HSC rules wise: From this game onwards I'm going to give 2pts for the 11th place - this doesn't affect anyone else just gives 1 player an extra point - unless anyone's got any strong objections

I forgot to look at how many enemies I killed in the high score I posted earlier; oh well.

For all those that think the red ball is evil, think again. It's neutral. It kills you and the enemies equally. The green ball is friendly since it only kills the enemies.

One thing bad about controls is that the frustration of not being able to go where you want instantly makes your hand hurt more so than normal games since you exert more effort.

Never mind that fix since I just got 24280 in the first round and 343840 overall. That was my last attempt at ixion.

Sorry, no scores from me this time, and no scores next time.

I have a huge amount of work to be done, and only little time left. And that time which is left I spend playing the NEW GAMES which are produced for the ABBUC Software competition. Perhaps I am back to the HSC after the yearly ABBUC meeting on Oct 23rd.

Thanks to everyone for playing

I somehow managed the winning go quite early and despite much effort (and cussing) only had one other go over 400K, the game really steps up in difficulty here and the turrets hunt you down with savage avengence. Bonus points for MrFish and atariksi for their commendable efforts.

Fandal has since taken this version of Ixion and patched the original text back in and posted this on his site, though it doesn't support the two players it mentions in the text!

The next game is still to be decided as I type, but after that it's the November bonus round, still time to make any suggestions (not you Mr Amiga ) on the Game 18 Poll topic which I will leave unlocked.

i wish i could have played more, but this week was busy so what i got in the 2-3 hours i played last week was it (anniversary was yesterday, and thur/fri there was a prob at work and i had to go in and save the day...)

next round i will be back... with a vengance... and still only get a top 10 :'/
