Does anyone here have Air Cars and can tell me if the following items are present:

1) The Radar Screen is hexagonal (not circular or round)

2) There is an option for 2 player networking and an option for multi-player networking.

3) When you play a single player game you have to enter a player name for yourself before starting.

4) When you play a single player game you are asked to choose between "Wimpy", "Normal", and "Total Destruction" for skill levels.

Does anyone have these and anyone else NOT have them?

Thanks.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Nope
4. You have to select the difficulty from the main menu under "Set Game Difficulty", but the choices are the same.

I'd love to hear what differences there are in your copy or copies. :)

I have to look into this more. I definitely have some copies with a round radar screen and some with a hexagon. I have to dig the copies I have out and see. The last time I used them was when I was doing testing on the Catbox for Tom "Harder". I found some old screenshots on my computer I captured with a video card back then to record some of the network problems for documenting the bugs in the Catbox. Before I deleted the screens I looked at them and I noticed some of them have the round radar and some have the octagon. I see other shots with the various setup menus. They differ slightly too.

I wonder if there are more versions out there than just one!?!?

Do you have a "2-Player Direct Serial" Option on the opening menu?

Also, do you have the manually enter the total number of players on a multi-player network?

I have screens showing these items.

This is odd, because I don't recall having to do this the last time I played networked. I know the copies I have run on production Jags, so they're encrypted. Some don't have cases or labels. I have to find them now!

Yes, I do have a 2-player Direct Serial option. I also have to select the number of players from two to eight (defaults to three) when choosing multi-player. Good luck digging those carts up!

They are in storage, which I'll have to get to tomorrow. I know I have some "round radar" Air Cars somewhere.

This is gonna be cool!

I remember reading a lot about Aircars back in the day,,,,
Wasnīt it that game that didnīt pass Ataris so called quality check?
So the developpers were told to change some things otherwise atari wouldnīt release it. I thought the cockpit layout changes including the Radar were some of the changes....
Or did I miss something and you are talking about something different.....?
From what I understand Icd released the last version with all the changes which atari wanted from midnite.
So i guess the other versions are those earlier releases.....that could explain why they are encrypted.
Atari had them and then for whatever reason decided not to release it like that.....I donīt know if the changes saved the game :-)
I just wished those earlier versions of AvP and whatnot would show up, where everything just looked cooler somehow......
and was faster and....well i donīt know....
I stop now.... :-)
Oh before i forgett...
T-Bird are there any superduper early versions of Battlesphere`?
Something with ultrafast 120FPS?:-)
Or Killertexture mapping, with mipmapping? :-)
Okok I really stop it now

There is an early version of AvP that has shown up where the movement is faster and the HUD display is completely different... :ponder:

It's not much of a game, but it is pretty darn neat.

I think that was mine. I sold it on ebay a couple years ago.

I don't have, and have never played AirCars. but could the diff radars be relate dto vehicles? can you have diff vehicles in the game?

perhaps one has round, the other is Octagonal?

Maybee there was a strong bout of solar flares or something and it caused the Jag to go all Octagonal? :)

If that were the case then how do you explain the fact that my Air Cars has an ESRB Rating Symbol on the label and the ones I have seen pictures of online do not. I never thought to look at it until I won a copy in a big lot of Jag stuff on ebay and noticed that it was different than the ones I got for testing Catbox with.

This is cool!

I don't remember if my copy (which I no longer have), had the round or hectigonal radar, I think the last, but I've seen screen shots in magazines and online of this game, and I've noticed more than just two different radar/dashboards...it's like Midnight software was changing it on an almost weekly basis...My point is that I wouldn't be suprised if there were more versions out there than just the two you have Thunderbird.

Well, I think you and I have the ULTRA-RARE-MEGA-WORTH-ITS-WEIGHT-IN-GOLD-SUPER-DELUXE-NYA-NYA-YOU-DONT-HAVE-THIS-ONE Version!

As far as I can tell, the ones without the rating on the front are commonplace.

Whoo-Hoo!
