I got the following list off of Kotaku, which compiled it from data on the Nintendo Channel, and was really surprised at which Wii titles are being played the most:

1. Monster Hunter Tri - 79:34 (up from the 2nd spot)
2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 78:19 (down from the 1st spot)
3. Animal Crossing: City Folk - 74:23
4. Harvest Moon: Animal Parade - 63:57
5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition - 57:44 (up from the 6th spot)
6. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 56:59 (down from the 5th spot)
7. Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility - 52:48
8. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - 52:13
9. Call of Duty: World at War - 51:08
10. Rune Factory: Frontier - 50:23
11. WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 - 49:22 (up from the 13th spot)
12. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - 49:11
13. Rock Band 2 - 48:56 (down from the 11th spot)
14. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 47:43
15. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - 41:07
16. Mario Kart Wii - 40:43
17. Wii Sports - 39:40
18. FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play - 39:03
19. Guitar Hero: World Tour - 37:49
20. Pro Evolution 2010 - 37:27 (new entry)

I found it very interesting that the list contained two Harvest Moon's along with Rune Factory as I would have never guessed that these games were that popular. Plus, to not see either of the Super Mario Galaxy's (well, at least Galaxy 1 since its been out much longer than Galaxy 2) on the list was puzzling. And finally, I was very surprised that Mario Kart was ranked only at 16th as I would have guessed that it, along with Smash Bros., would have the longest play times since they involve online play.

Overall, I was really surprised at the listing.

You don't see SMG or SMG2 because, even to complete them, they don't take that long to beat, not like Zelda or open-ended games like Harvest Moon.

I am surprised to see LEGO Star Wars, simply because the game is available on every system and I'm surprised the Wii version gets so much play.

Interesting list.

Is Monster Hunter that good, or just currently en vogue?

That list is complete crap I would have to say.

It lists Call of Duty and Harvest Moon twice? And FIFA Soccer? Really?

What about Galaxy 1 or 2, or NSMB?
What about No More Heroes?

Nobody plays them for more than 40 hours apparently.

Ahhhhh.... good point, Stan. I hadn't considered that.

In fact, I looked it up and found that SMG is averaging 31 hours while SMG2 is averaging 26 hours. Sort of funny but I didn't think I spent any more time with Zelda than I have with SMG but I guess maybe I have.

As for Monster Hunter, I can't really comment since I haven't really played it. I did try the demo of it when it was released but I couldn't figure out how to control it or what was needed to kill the monsters so I passed on purchasing it.

A couple on this list are games you can often leave on for awhile, which counts toward playtime. I know I often have Animal Crossing loaded up and going so people can visit my town if they like, sometimes while I am watching a football game. Same with Mario Kart--sometimes I am just waiting for people I know to show up and race, so leave it on for that. I also do play it a ton, though.

This must be one of the first times you have seen this list. Kotaku puts them up pretty regularly, and Rune Factory Frontier has been on there for a pretty long time. Rune Factory Frontier is pretty much a Harvest Moon spinoff.. (It takes the HM games and adds an action RPG element) If you haven't tried it, give it a shot - it's probably the most underrated Wii title out there.

The main problem with this list though is that it shows what people are playing legitimately. By that I mean nothing is counted that needs the homebrew channel launched first in order to play. You know what I mean. The Homebrew channel is easily the most "played" title.

It may be the most played channel on my Wii, but I seriously doubt that the majority of Wii owners have hacked their consoles. In fact, I bet it's a very small percentage.

I'm not surprised Mario Kart Wii is a fair ways down on the list.

I spent a ton of time on the game (Putting around 40 hours into it, which is apparantly about average) and had my fill and haven't gone back to it in about a year now.

I own only one title from that list. Wii sports. Funny as I have maybe 30 or so titles :ponder:

My two most played Wii games are on that list: Lego Star Wars and Mario Kart. My son plays Lego Star Wars CONSTANTLY. I don't have any of the other games on the list (except Wii Sports of course.)

What - I thought that 'all Wii owners' were 'non-gamers' who 'only played Wii sports for five minutes' and 'never ever bought a single third party game'.

Yeah, Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon are incredible time sucks. I was glad when my wife and daughter kind of forgot about them, so that I could play something in the living room. I checked in on my AC town recently; weeds everywhere, cockroaches in my house....I really should have bought some plywood from nook and boarded up my windows and marked the place condemned. As far as the Wii game I have spent the most time on, I had to think awhile and you will probably laugh...I think it would be ExciteBots. It looked so ridiculous, but my love of ExciteTruck forced me to play and it is fun as hell. The majority of the time spent with it though is because the online play is a blast, totally functional and no exploits to speak of to ruin the competition. Try it out - it is a cheap used title.
