HERE IS A STORY about the upcoming release of the uDraw Tablet from THQ.

I found the story interesting and had a thought cross my mind while reading it: Is it possible that this device will be used by developers to give a sort of "Nintendo DS" experience to the Wii? Could games like Pokemon Ranger... where you have to use the stylus to play.... be coming to the Wii? Could this device open up new gaming possibilities, beyond motion, for the Wii?

Any thoughts?

How in the heck would this work? Do you hold the tablet with one hand and draw with the other, or would you need a table? Anyway, count me interested.

I also made a video of me using it and uploaded it to YouTube in case anyone's interested (It took like an hour for YouTube to go through its thing for some reason.

Neat program, how does it work, I mean, it looks just like using the wiimote without seeing what you're doing.

Seems the menu system is a little disorganized, or overly complicated or something though. Other than that, it looks kind of like something I'd like to fiddle with.

You hook up the tablet to the Wiimote, the tablet has a hole where you put the Wiimote. The stylus has a cord from the bottom of the tablet that's long enough to reach the board so you can draw on the tablet. This video is from the second time I ever used it, I haven't found a way to undo a penstroke yet, I guess I really should check out the Tutorials.

I am a bit unclear on this.

Does the tablet act as the pointer for the Wiimote (allowing me to use the tablet on any game involving me to point the Wiimote on screen), or is it it's own thing, only working with the games made for it?

This does look interesting, though.

The tablet only works with games made for it. There are only three so far, but THQ has promised more next year.

Does anyone still get Nintendo Power? How did they rate the uDraw games? And for those interested, there will be a new game for this: SpongeBob SquigglePants, coming out on April 12.

I forgot Nintendo power. I actually have a subscription to it still, but rarely read it, I'll have to look this game up.

Amazon had a sale recently on uDraw, lowering the price plus they threw in a free additional game. But it appears the sale is now over.

The fifth game for the uDraw comes out this Tuesday: "Kung Fu Panda 2." I know absolutely nothing about the series, but I plan on getting this anyway just for a complete collection. "SpongeBob SquigglePants" is kinda fun, it's a lot like the WarioWare games. I uploaded gameplay footage of it on YouTube:

This new system, including the name, kind of reminds me of something....

I was looking around IGN for news of a sixth uDraw game. Clicking on every THQ-made game was fruitless until I saw one where the description says you utilize the GameTablet. A game based on the Penguins of Madagascar TV series on Nickelodeon is coming out Q4 of 2011. So unless they cancel it, there will be at least 6 games for the uDraw.

By the way, here's the video I made for the "Kung Fu Panda 2" game. Haven't seen the movie(s) so I don't know what I'm doing:

THQ is making a uDraw GameTablet for the PS3 and X-Box 360. I don't know the release date, but it looks like it's not going to be Wii-exclusive.

I really think that the uDraw tablet could be a lot of fun if it was incorporated into games, especially if its not just "tacked-on".

But I am also afraid of purchasing accessory add-on's like this, no matter who makes them or for whichever system, because of the lack of support that so many of them got in the past (Wii Speak, anyone?).

Do kids use coloring books and crayon's anymore? Reason I ask.... my 5yr old grandson just got a uDraw Tablet for his birthday and while playing some Spongebob with him, I got to thinking: why don't companies just release some "coloring books" for this device?

(NOTE: I asked my son and daughter-in-law about coloring habits and they showed me a box of crayon and several books.... along with a wall... that my grandson uses)

Releasing some Sesame Street, Transformers, Disney, Marvel, and other popular "coloring books" would seem to be a natural. Maybe include the ability to save the pic's to an SD card for printing them out to hang on the refrigerator door or mailing/Emailing to people.

I don't know... maybe i'm showing my age and recalling days of my youth where coloring books, Little Golden Books, cereal while lying on the floor in front of the TV on Saturday mornings with the cartoons, board games, Etch-A-Sketch, and other such activities were a big, exciting part of life.

Maybe life has changed and I hadn't noticed.

I wanted to tell everyone in the New England area, that I picked up a new UDraw Tablet today for $25 at Newbury Comics. It was so cheap because the box was slightly crushed. The girl said tht they just picked up a bunch from some big store, (she thought Walmart or Target) where the boxes are slightly crushed. The games are marked as USED but, I got it home, and it was brand new. All original packaging. Just wanted to pass this on.....
