I really couldn't decide what to get for Christmas, so I wrote down all the things I was considering, put them in a Halloween bucket, and chose randomly. Super Mario Galaxy won. So, I guess it's my turn to make my older brother green with envy over a game of mine. And in case you were wondering, the other things I was considering were:

Final Fantasy VII (PS)
Shining the Holy Ark (SAT)
Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii)
ICO (PS2)
Sega 32X + games
Sega Dreamcast

Isn't it a little early to be thinking about Christmas?

Nevertheless, you'll enjoy Galaxy.

C'mon, the Dreamcast should have easily been your choice to begin with!

I still haven't played Super Mario Galaxy yet. Have had it for 2 years I think. I also still have a sealed copy of Metroid Prime 3. Nice and minty. :D

Totally would have ditched the other choices and taken the DC myself.. But I digress. Mario Galaxy is an excellent game. :)

Well, I did just buy a Saturn, so now I want to focus on just getting more games for a while.

I recently replayed some of Super Mario Galaxy (1) and was suprised all over again at how nicely down the game turned out.

Well, I ran my list of things by my dad, and he suggested that I get a rebuilt 5200 controller, rather than a game or system. And considering those controllers are pretty much the same price as Super Mario Galaxy is, I think it's a great idea. I wonder why I didn't think of it.

Better yet, get an Atari 8-bit computer. The games are identical to the 5200 version because they are the same hardware (Just with different cartridges. the only games that were exclusive to the 5200 were Berzerk and Space Dungeon), but it has a keyboard, many more games, the ability to write your own games, can use standard 9-pn controllers (2600 joystick, Genesis controller, etc.), cassette drive, floppy drive, and much more.

I already have an Atari 8-bit, but many 8-bit games have better or cheaper versions on Atari 5200 (or aren't on 8-bit at all), which is why I have a 5200. But I have no good controllers, so why not get one?

Fair enough then. I tried.

You act as though I'm punishing myself by getting that controller. Let me make this clear: I already own an 8-bit.. What the heck is wrong with having a 5200 to play as well?

You are not punishing yourself. There is nothing wrong with the 5200, as I have used refurbished 5200 controllers before, and I liked them. I just felt like pointing out there were other options. I didn't know you had an Atari 8-bit.

Well, things have changed (unfortunately). My 5200s switchbox fried while I was fiddling with my controllers, so no 5200 controller for me. However, my parents are letting me (and my older brother) do something special this year. For our Christmas shopping, my dad is going to take us out Black Friday shopping, give us each $50, and let us go crazy. This means I could get any one of the things on my list, and I don't have to decide anything until then. I like that. But I'm still not happy about that switchbox...

OK, I don't know why, but my 5200 works again. Though at this point I'm just so fed up with this thing I'll probably just list it in the marketplace and get some money to replace one of my broken systems (probably 2600).

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that the rebuilt controller I wanted to get is $75, which is more than my parents want to spend on a present. So now there's no reason at all to keep this.
