:skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: be very afraid :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull:

November spawned a monster!

Keeping it very simple:
-- All real HSC points, no overall tournament.
-- Play any or as many as you fancy.
-- 3pts for a win, 2pts for 2nd-6th place, 1 pt for 7th onwards.
-- Games close on the 28th November1st December, 10am BST

Monster Smash, Drelbs, Meteor (joystick in 2nd port - Patched 1st port ver here), Little Devil, Gremlins, Steeple Jack, Nightmares (Shooter - leave disk in, option tune/sfx, select pause - no autofire allowed!), Ghost Chaser (Platform - 1 bonus point for anyone who completes this game, escape pause), Creepshow Pinball (no double flipping, just use left&right!), Ghost!, Monster Hunt (Platformer - doesn't show score at end of go :x press select to pause, start to continue), Nightmare Manor (press 1 for difficulty), Zador (Majhong - press space if stuck - leave disk in when playing)

Most games are on these ATRs:
Attached File  part1.atr   130.02K   37 downloads (v2 with patched Meteor)
Attached File  part2.atr   130.02K   41 downloads
(mydos/mypicodos, tested on 130XE 1050 PAL!)

Zador, Nightmare Manor and Nightmares are boot ATRs:
Attached File  Nightmares.ATR   90.02K   35 downloads
Attached File  Nightmare Manor.atr   90.02K   47 downloads
Attached File  Zador.ATR   90.02K   51 downloads

Everyone welcome to join in. If you haven't got a way of downloading the games or need any help let me know. Yes, I know Zador isn't scary unless you're a tileophobiac(?), but there's not many creepy puzzle games!
Have fun folks :)

That was the pre bonus round, didn't I mention the pre bonus round :D

I'm going to make a start on these tonight! Nightmare's is an excellent intense shoot'er so am looking forward to that, plus Metor and Steeple jack are a couple of fun little games. If anyone posts feel free to put some comments about the game (it sucks, they all suck or even some positive comments ;) )

No they all suck, well Little Devil's controls do and the fact that you get zillions of points for collecting a giant B no not a bee :D Boy Nightmares is tough - no autofire folks am sure I beat the first stage once before... Monster Hunt is quite a nice platformer, jump under the floors to pop up bonuses like the Atari logo, you have to be slightly to the right of centre (no election pun intended!) to collect stuff.

Drelbs is a real classic so had several goes on that one  In Ghost! you need to steer the ghosts into the gap at the top of the screen, without them touching each other; on level 3 there are four ghosts!

Here's some scores to get you motivated:

Drelbs - 39,500
Monster Hunt - 294

Creep Show Pinball - 170,010

Nightmares - 2,425

Little Devil - 3,400

I played all the games on the part 1 atr on Sunday night to see what is on there... got to say I'm not a fan so far! (I'll post scores later)

Ghost... Kind of fun for the first few screens, then it gets BORING!

Ghost Chaser, not as fun as some of the other Frank Cohen games (I'm looking at you Beer Belly Burt & Ollies Follies)

Creep Show Pinball... YAWN (I'm spiled after playing the Jaguar HSC bonus round last week... Ruiner Pinball)

Monster Smash... Again kind of fun for the first few minutes

Drelbs... One of my favorites even if I'm not so good at it (this could have been a single game for the month)

Meteor... Simple, yet strangely addictive. I kept saying "just one more go" <--- score on this one I remember 103, sucky for all the times I tried it lol

Yes Ghost Chaser's gonna take a bit of getting used to the darn movement again after all these years, I did beat it way back then. Suprisingly had fun playing Nightmare Manor, completed level 1. If you beat a level you can post a score for the next one(s) and I'll combine them. Some games are nice for a quick go, some are more involved, hopefully everyone will find a couple they like :)

Steeple Jack 290m

With the name of "Creature XL" it seems appropriate for you to play in this round! Welcome and have fun

OK I was wrong Little Devil is fun - you can use the edges of the first screen to avoid the nasties, they don't come in for the kill so be patient... managed to beat the first round of screens too. 44,500 :)

Zador 2,480 - scraped through to level 4. You can match up the various flowers and the sun, heart, bomb?! and mobile phone?! all go together too, if you hear a noise you gain valuable extra seconds... you need to be able to draw a U or Z shape between the two tiles to match them up... ask bluecat for help here ;)

Nightmare Manor completed level 2, 7,220 :)

I was hoping no-one would ask me how to explain Drelbs but here goes :D Make the squares, when you've done them all stay near one and move into it when it changes you are then onto the 2nd part. If you collect the hearts the bad guys get temporarily frozen and you can box them in. If you collect a diamond a window to the 2nd part opens. Occasionally dive into any window that has the lady trapped inside and you will get a bonus. On the 2nd part walk over all the Drelbs' shadows (I assume you are the Drelb!?) and avoid the bad guys and clear the screen to complete the level... now I'm going to read the proper instructions and see how I did ;)

Played Zador again - 3,640 Lv5

You need to enable artifacting otherwise those screens look terrible. I just played disk#1: Ghost Chaser: 1350, Ghost: 3010, Monster Smash 1944, and Creepshow in screenshot below. Can you put the joystick #1 meteor on disk #1 as I couldn't play that yet?

Okay, thanks. Here's my score for meteor. I guess this one does require some exact motion with joystick.

Was that an analogue or digital joystick?! Don't answer that :D

Ghost Chaser needs a few goes to master but then it all starts coming back, very nice game with a good layout - hints: remember to be careful on the tops of stairs or ladders, and can duck when half way up the stairs to avoid being hit. You can shoot the big ghost too!
