Important Note: This weeks competition is over and no further scores will be accepted.

While in the middle of a joyride around the Sea of Tranquility, you run across a gang of space pirates who will stop at nothing to keep their hiding spot a secret. Luckily, you're armed with a laser cannon, and your buggy is the fastest the moon has ever seen! Escape the pirates if you can, but watch your gas guage!

Hints and Tips

The Manual

As always, you really should read the manual. In case you don't have the manual, AtariAge has a scanned copy available online. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any specific hints.

Deteacher

At the bottom of the screen, you will see the "radar", showing your position. In the manual, it states that each time you cross over one of the "borders" you will encounter harder enemies. While that is true, what they don't tell you is that you gain an extra life when you cross into each new zone. So, always be trying to reach that next checkpoint. So, my tip here is: Go fast on the top levels, but go slow on the bottom levels. This allows you to prevent losing too much ground when you need fuel. Speaking of fuel:

When your audio alarm goes off, it's not so much that you are "running out of fuel" as it is more like "A fuel cell is approaching." I've noticed that you won't run out of fuel as long as the fuel cell hasn't appeared, but you "run out of fuel" if you miss the oncoming fuel cell. So, don't panic when your alarm goes off. You can still travel along the top section for a bit before descending down into the lower level. But, if you miss the fuel cell, you're toast.

It looks like you get about 2,500 points for completing a course.

Here are some tips and info you won't find in the manual:

At the bottom of the screen, you will see the "radar", showing your position. In the manual, it states that each time you cross over one of the "borders" you will encounter harder enemies. While that is true, what they don't tell you is that you gain an extra life when you cross into each new zone. So, always be trying to reach that next checkpoint. You can still travel along the top section for a bit before descending down into the lower level. But, if you miss the fuel cell, you're toast.

This is a really fun game. It's like Moon Patrol on Steroids. :)

New high score for me: 12,360!

IMG_0451.JPG

You get bonus points for completing the course, then you start back at the beginning, but it's much faster and harder. I think I've just found a game to add to my list of favorites. This one is addicting!

And another personal best: 18,230!

IMG_0453.JPG

It looks like you get about 2,500 points for completing a course. I completed 2 courses in this game. The 3rd course is damn near impossible. The saucers come at you so fast. You're almost better off just shooting at everything and hoping it's not a number.

Participation points at least. Tough game, especially using computer keys. It is very unforgiving.

I'm not that good with high-tech jabberwocky, but would owning your own Galaxie count for the bonus? ;)
