Shadowmere can carry an unlimited amount of stuff

I love this part:

Quote

Be careful about storing potions inside Shadowmere. When in battle, Shadowmere's AI will attempt to make use of any useful items in her inventory, which means that she may drink any potions.

You can store stuff on Shadowmere? I didn't know that, I had tried it with other animals and by the time I got that, I never bothered (don't know why it would be different for one animal out of the others)

Still, having pack animals would be good. I remember in morrowind thinking it would be cool to have slaves for the purpose of carying extra stuff (or hell, fighting, I assume CP players could levelup too, righ, as long as you take care of them) As near as I could tell though, you can't have a slave in morrowind, though there is one quest where you deliver one.

Anyhow, pack animals a must, it annoys me to have to go to a cave 2 or 3 times just because there is to much stuff to carry out, especially when it's only a few items (it's bad when your throwing away glass items as you fight though a cave cause it's the least valuable stuff you still have on you, still, it's nice everything stays where you toss it till you're done) Heck, it would open a new dynamic to the game, all of a sudden you could have bandits trying to steal your stuff, or even the pack animal itself, maybe you could get guards for the pack animals? You could go crazy, this was why I loved playing old PnP D&D, stuff like that, since the game for PNP has to have rules for what you can'tdo rather than rules for what you can like a computer does.

More info: (that I took from here.)

'•New engine is called the Creation Engine, and a major focus has been a huge draw distance. Images shown of NPC characters reveal characters that are no longer creepy and weird, but almost presentable.
•Swinging your weapon near characters, knocking stuff off tables, or stealing items will not just generate a stock reaction from NPCs. They will instead react to you with a hostility determined by your past interactions with them. So, somebody who likes you won't try to kill you because you stabbed their favorite plate.
•An example of a random mission is an assassination mission. In Skyrim, the game will use different assassination targets based on player location, what you've done and who you've met. Bethesda calls this "conditionalizing."
•Random encounters are similar to those in Red Dead Redemption. You might save a priest who will point you in the direction of a randomly generated dungeon, or find a MAMMOTH being attacked by a pack of wolves. Yes ... a MAMMOTH!
'

I like this! Damn....this sounds good every time!

It just seems like when we buy this game we will be lost in it never to return.

Goodbye world!
:D

Oh man, this game sounds simply AWESOME.
I hope they have a kick ass collectors edition that includes the soundtrack.
They could release a $200 collectors edition of this game and I'd pre-order the thing. I'm seriously going to take the day off work when this is released and play until I can't stay awake!

I'm getting the collectors edition too, I'm sure there will be one. Soundtrack yes, and I want a cloth map. I love cloth maps. :)

I'm not going to pee my pants from excitement this time since the last game wasn't as advanced as they promised, but it sure would be nice if this one is really as good as they claim. A huge draw distance and those missions/encounters using controlled randomness sound nice. If they'll deliver on the AI this time, the game will be great.

I'll probably stop everything in 2012 and just play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim the whole year.

I'm looking forward to this as I completed all of the last 2 after FAR too much time playing. I mean way too much time.

However, they are going to have to go back to somethings from older games to get me really into it again I think. I don't like that ALL enemies level with you. I liked having to stay out of certain areas as a low level to stay alive.

Also, the way armor in the stores and such only got better with your skills was junk. I liked being able to create the character right, sneak into somewhere and steal the beat armor in the game if I knew how to do it.

Put in terms pen and paper RPG players will understand, go back the static game world. Less hand holding, more taking the time to learn that place around you.

As a side note, I would like the see experience based leveling instead of "swing your sword alot" leveling. I know they haven't done this with the series in its modern form, but Fallout 3 had it and it was SO much better to have that back.

I completely agree with the character leveling and the leveling monsters issue.

Oblivion was beyond great but I too was annoyed at the leveling mechanic for the players and the monsters.

I just remember the very first time I turned on Morrowind I walked the wrong way and a Golden Saint ate my face instantly. Start over mode already. The game is harder that way, but it makes at more rewarding when you play it well. It is also fun when you level and gear your character to the point that not much can kill you at all.

Fallout still has this problem with monster leveling with you a little, but from time to time you still run into something weak that makes you feel like a level 30 character when you kill it with no effort. I guess I think that when I reach the max level only the very toughest mobs should create a problem for me.

Also, just to make the complete and total nerd in my happy, I would LOVE to see a giant dragon to kill in the new game. I mean something nasty and hard as hell to beat for a max level character that gaurds the craziest stuff in the game.

Here's some more combat info from toid

* Back pedal speed has been reduced to eliminate "hit & run" tactics. Stagger and balance have been added to create more dangerous attacks.
* Simply holding up a shield is useless. You now need to time your blocks. You can also pull off a shield bash to stagger opponents. Can be
attempted with two-handed weapons as well, but at a greater risk.
* Flourish attacks appear for skillful kills, giving you a nice visual treat as you execute an enemy.
* Some revealed combat Perks are critical strikes (swords), bleeding status (axes) and armor negation (maces).
* Ranged combat makes arrows capable of higher damage, but also harder to find. Just one shot can potentially destroy an enemy, but you may
only have one shot to make. Ranged warfare now seems to rely heavily on stealthy characters.
* Stealth in Skyrim is a little deeper. Enemies don't suddenly move from passive to aggressive. There is now an interim "Alert" phase, so
you'll have a chance to hide again and wait for them to forget about you.
* Back attacks with daggers are highly dangerous, and a range of dagger Perks will lead to some truly badass assassins running around.
* Magic in Skyrim will be inspired by BioShock's Plasmids, funnily enough. Magic and melee will be kept distinctly separate. You can have a
magic spell in one hand and a sword in the other, but you can't just crack off fireballs while hack n' slashing.
* Although the Mysticism school of magic has been removed and consumed by the other schools, each spell in the game is more flexible. You don't
just shoot projectiles this time -- you can hold down the fire button for a stream of magic, place them down as traps, or dual-wield them for
extra damage.
* Each spell has been individually crafted, so you won't just get aesthetically different spells that act in exactly the same way. There is a
possibility you'll be able to meld spells together to create new effects, but Bethesda has not yet decided.
* Fights between mages will be similar to melee combat, where timing and skill is more important than throwing out fireballs and seeing how
wins.
* Ultimately, the aim of the combat is to make each fight feel like a life-or-death situation rather than a brainless hack festival.

When I play a character that wears light armour and relies on melee combat this is how I fight in tough situations. That would mostly be a situation where I am outnumbered because I can generally plow through most things face-to-face.

Very cool. I would like to see playing an assassin become much more rewarding.

I don't know what exactly is being borrowed from Bioshock but this is the way magic worked in Morrowind. In Morrowind your hands come out and then you use attack to cast. You can put your hands away or switch between your hands and your weapon but you can't cast while still holding your weapon. It is only in Oblivion that hitting the cast button does an instant cast without lowering your weapon.

I'm VERY curious about the assassin now. I tried it in Oblivion and after playing great stealth games like Thief, it was very disappointing. I didnt like how enemies were either not alert or fully alert when sneaking up on them etc. I also like that this is a completely overhauled game which means its not just some upgrade with tweaks.

I "cheated" a lot by using back-pedal. Easily beat monsters that would have otherwise wasted me.

Exciting time to be a fan. I can't wait. I'll be buying the guide which I normally never do, getting the collectors edtion (I'm sure they will have one) and taking a day off.

This is how it works in Fallout 3. In typical modern-Bethesda fashion, they have a bold message on the screen telling you whether the enemy is aware of you. It's not just what your character thinks is happening, it's omniscient. If the message turns red, they're suspicious and you need to hide or back up. If it blinks, they're coming after you.
I can't say the perks excite me much, I find them a mix of cheesy and arbitrary. Why should I need a "perk" to try to kill someone in their sleep? Why shouldn't my success rate just be a function of my stats?

Looks like they're putting the most emphasis on combat features. That's not really the biggest priority for me. I'm more interested in having a complete world to explore. The biggest criticism I have with Fallout 3 is that there isn't much else you can do but run around killing people. It's a fun game when I'm in the mood, but I don't want Skyrim to be like that.

I'm just teasing of course. I wish I could've got into Morrowind, but I purchased the Xbox release after starting Oblivion and it was just too difficult to take a step backward graphically. Maybe someday I'll play it long enough to get pulled in and experience what it has to offer since my understanding is that many of the elements were superior to what Oblivion had to offer.

Can't run those mods on the Xbox version but I have been experimenting with mods on the Xbox version and I have been able to enhance the graphics in a number of ways. Obviously you can do a lot more with the PC version though. Plus, the journal is a million times better on the PC when the mods are installed because it has a quest list in it.

Simply amazing. I might have to take more than one day off for this one! (Maybe a week!)
Just simple scenes of walking through the forest were amazing! I can't wait to explore the world.
One of the best parts of these games is finding little out of the way ruins (not tied to any quests) usually full of monsters and treasures!
No clue what RT was referring to. Camera shake? Did you mistakenly link to The Blair Witch Project originally?

Look at 17 seconds:

And 28 seconds:

They're using Camera-Strapped-to-Head-O-Vision instead of simulating how a person really sees. Don't know about you, but I see in Steadicam-O-Vision when I walk and run.

Looked like 4 seconds (adding both scenes) of someone running to me. It appeared in none of the other game play shots that I noticed.
Maybe it was a cut scene? Maybe they've included a sprint button?
Really it's probably something you'll be able to deal with.
If it's a cut scene, look away during the cut scenes.
If it's a sprint button, maybe don't push that particular button?
I dunno, probably best to wait, you don't want to waste your $$$ for sure.

Amazing those four seconds were all you got out of that almost 3 minute trailer.
*Fallum Fallum*

Just checked Amazon, they have Skyrim available for pre-order, but no collectors edition in site!!

http://www.amazon.co...ASIN=B004HYK956

Hopefully it's just too soon, and they'll be announcing a CE version closer to the launch day.

Except for when the guy almost falls off the cliff and the sprinkle of third-person shots (where the camera didn't move much at all), the rest look like out-of-body style sweeping shots that were probably from cut scenes like we see in most game trailers that have nothing to do with actual gameplay.

I don't play these Elder Scrolls games in third-person because they don't know what they're doing. It always seems like a tacked on option that never looks quite right. They could learn from games like Just Cause 2. That's a third-person game that looks and feels right.
