In Europe ( Germany, Italy and France for sure ) Colecovision was sold with MOUSE TRAP cart, so to oblige us to buy DK separately.

In France, it was sold with Donkey Kong for sure , not mouse trap.

I ignored it
this was in 1982 or 1983 ? because the cart was also sold separately there.

a friend in Mulhouse confirm he bought his CBS Colecovision with Mouse Trap included and he had both DK and DKJ for Christmas. This was December 1983. this just for information. But at that time were a lot of non official importers so everything was possible.

glad to see people finally respecting the dk box rarity!
that's a tough box, i would say in the lower/middle range of the top ten rare cv boxes.

There is a US boxed version of Donkey Kong. I purchased one several years ago and still have it. I can only assume that it was made for people that puchased a stand alone ADAM computer, which didn't come with Donkey Kong on cartridge, but instead the Buck Rogers supergame on digital data pack.

I like how it's 'Based' on the real arcade game. Is that like 'based on a true story'?

Usually, I noticed that the CBS boxes had “Based on the real arcade game” for Atari 2600 & Intellivision versions, and “Just like the real arcade game” on the Colecovision version.

I’ve put “Based on…” on this box as it appeared like that on the brochure.

Must be a UK vs US thing. Neither is incorrect.

Correct. Relatively easy to pick up from most European eBay sites - however often they are overpriced so patience is needed to get one at the right level.

That is the French only version, note that the cart and instructions are solely in French. There is also a general European variant that has the cart and instructions in multiple (five) languages.
