Dirty Larry seems like a very similar similar game to Batman Returns: the bad guys just keep coming at you without letting up. Either you're an expert gamer or you die pretty early in the game. The great thing about Batman was the cheat code that gave you invincibility (plus a level skip). That way, you can just walk right through it! Does Dirty Larry have any cheat codes of any kind? I couldn't find any. If not, then I imagine this is one tough game to beat.

I FINALLY just beat this game after about 100 games. There are a few subtle strategies required to beat this tough game:

Unlike Batman Returns, you have to defeat the enemies and can't just run. This game requires muscle memory, but I can attempt to explain what I did to eventually beat judge smite. Below is a list of the enemies and what I did to dispatch them:

gun-man: Use 2 bullets to dispatch (or one shot-gun blast). Sometimes you can fire a bullet and still have time to jump his shots.

chain-lady: I like to duck and punch repeatedy to save ammo.

cycle-rider: Jump him and shoot him 4 times.

fire-guy: shoot once before he touches you.

baseball fury reject: shoot once or twice and finish with fists quickly.

muscle thug with red shirt: Use fists and save ammo!! Just punch and keep walking through him and wait till he attacks and misses and rinse and repeat. With luck, you can amass 99 bullets and maintain a high level of health.

rasta-dude: duck his bullets and shoot back.

boss with white suit/hat: use machine gun and dispatch quickly. It might help to jump intermittently.

Grenade throwing scientists: Use gun if there are other enemies also present on screen. If alone, get in their face and use fists and their grenades shouldn't hit you. You may have to jump over their first grenade as soon as they come on screen.

electricity/scientist boss: This guy is tough. I like to wait till he "slides across the floor" and then drill him with machine guns. Be easy on the trigger finger with the machine gun, as it is easy to waste ammo by wasting bullets after the enemy is dispatched.

dirty cops: I like to quickly dispatch with shot-gun while ducking their top-shots.

Judge smite: I like to use several grenades and then shotgun from a distance. This guy took me forever to beat. He throws gavels when you are jumping and makes the floor rumble when you are on the ground too long. It might help to duck a gavel, shoot a few times, jump to avoid the earthquake, and rinse/repeat. The ending is okay for a lynx game, really, as it adds the rest of the ongoing storyline while larry is polishing his gun wearing shades.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply and strategy guide. The truth is that I'm just not that good at these kinds of games and I can't imagine beating it like you did, even following all the pointers. That's why it was a relief to have cheats for Batman Returns, because I could win without working too hard!

It seems that there are no cheats available for Dirty Larry. Can you confirm that this is the case?

I am not aware of actual cheat codes for this game. That is not to say there isn't any. Good luck!
