I got offered a cocktail cabinet, but my options to transport it are limited due to commitments to being involved in a low budget movie locally. The one weekday I'm off is out because the owner of the game and his wife both work through the week, and I don't have a truck or van - all I have is a Taurus. I'm tempted to try picking up the game in the Taurus, since it seems to be my only option left at this point. According to the flyer on The Arcade Flyer Archive, its dimensions are as follows (measured in millimeters):

564(D) X 863(W) X 570 - 680(H)

I did some conversion to inches, and I came up with 22(D) X 34(W) X 22-27(H). I fit a parking meter and a rather large base into my Taurus last year, and if it's possible that this game could be fit into it as well at those dimensions, I'll go pick it up myself. Most cocktail games I wouldn't try that with, but this one seems smaller than most - perhaps small enough that I won't need someone else's vehicle. Any thoughts?

I don't know man, I own a 97 Taurus and I would be amazed if a cocktail game fit in the trunk. It just doesn't have the clearance. You might be able to wedge it and tie it in real tight to the trunk lid and hitch but that would surely be a gamble.

I've owned Taurus' all throughout the 90's. No way will a cocktail table fit in the trunk. Hell, a pinball machine totally torn apart BARELY fit in my Taurus wagon.

It's not the trunk I want to put it in. I was thinking more of putting it inside, from the passenger front side to the back.

Now that I know is impossible, unless you remover your door. It just will not open wide enough ;)

Is putting it through the back door not an option either?

Would something just under 2 feet wide not fit through the back door?

I doubt it, I have a hell of a time trying to fit my bass drums in the back of the Taurus. I can do it but I really have to jam them in. I can't imagine the cocktail having that much give, plus it's larger than a bass drum. Longer also which would make it very difficult to angle.

It would be tough, but it was my only option. The good news is that I just got an email from the script writer, and it looks like filming has been pushed back to next month. I know I can find someone over the weekend who can help with this! There are at least three people that I know for sure will do it if their schedules will allow it, and I'm willing to bet at least one of them will be able to.

If you have a little extra cash and he doesn't live too far away Home Depot rents out pick up trucks for $20 per 75 minutes. You have to replace whatever gas you use but I have rented them in a pinch to pick something up.

Hmm... that might be an option if none of them can do it. I've offered a $60 bounty on the game, and these three guys are all eager to cash in on it. I figured I'd make it worth their time and gas and whatnot - the game is located nearly an hour away.

If it's an hour away you would need the truck for 150 minutes (they do it in 75 minute intervals) I think the gas on the truck option would jack the price up pretty high, lets say you are driving 125 to 135 miles round trip in a truck that gets maybe 10 miles to the gallon (they are pretty big) after fuel and rental you are looking at upwards of $80+ Then again, if you are getting the cocktail for free it might not be that bad of a deal...

wow, I'd sell the Taurus and get a minivan. lol. Minivans are awesome. I also have an old truck, to use for hauling and as a spare vehicle in a pinch. But then again, I have a lot of space at the house to store vehicles.

Actually, I'm planning to get a used U-Haul van eventually. Unfortunately, I simply can't afford one at this time.

You live quite a piece from me. I've got someone lined up to help, though. I just need to hear back from the owner so I'll be sure that he will be expecting us.

Now that would be class, A 65-ish Chevy pickup If I recall!

The issue with Home Depot, is they will only rent you the truck if you buy something that needs it, so my neighbor was telling me as I handed him the keys to my Sport Trac. If you are ever in a quandry of truck vs. car, buy an Explorer Sport Trac. Full size sedan interior AND a usable truck bed...
