I was scanning this EGM when I came across this.

It's from 2006
I wouldn't exactly say these points are "wrong". They're all legit complaints that people still weigh against the Wii.
5) It's not HD, and people like HD.
4) Nothing will stop Sony and MS from making motion controls, however the Wii has the advantage of offering them in the box.
3) The specs on the system are lower.
2) The online system is marginal.
1) Third parties don't like Nintendo.
All of these things were perfectly reasonable thoughts in 2006, and continue to be so today. Point #4 has been shown to be true to the letter, actually. The only difference is that in the last four years, we've seen that specs and resolution alone don't sell games. The above points just don't MATTER as much as we thought they would in 2006-- though again, they're all undeniably true.
In the last hardware generation, which ended around 2006, Microsoft and Sony were constantly copying each other. In this generation, they're both copying Nintendo. Going forward, I'm going to be really interested to see if Sony and MS make their next console more "Casual-friendly" and if Nintendo makes any attempt to regain the "high spec" market, or if they continue to differentiate themselves.
