Does anyone know where to get the gold plated S-Video panel/chassis mount jacks that Longhorn uses on his Deluxe mods? I can't find them anywhere. I am sure I am just using the wrong search terms or something. I can only find the ones that need screws for mounting and I hate that. I can find panel/chassis mount screwless jacks that have a female connector on both ends, but I would really like for it to be a solder connection on one side. Here is a pic from Longhorn's page....

Nope. There are some items on there that are better than the kind with screws showing, but not the same thing as longhorn's. This guy used the same jack...

Did you try a search for 4 pin mini DIN. I would check Mouser. E-mail them with a picture and description of the item.

Yeah, I searched 4 pin mini DIN. I checked out mouser pretty heavily too. I guess an email to them might be the best thing at this stage. That is unless Longhorn logs on and lets me know.

Like this?

If so, it appears to be on sale here:

Although, this looks more like it in gold but appears to be the pass-thru barrel type:

I remember that in the Neo Geo world, this particular style of S-video jack was quite popular. The typical procedure was to buy the one you've seen with female connectors on both sides and cut it open, connecting your circuit directly to the wires that join the 2 connectors together.

I bought one of those once to see if it was worth the effort. It was easy to open with a pipe cutter, but the wires inside were so thin and fragile that I never considered using them full time. Unless you've gotta have the appearance of gold, there are panel jacks that are much easier to use and higher quality.

Lay them on me. I am open to anything. Quality is the most important thing.

I asked Parker about these and here is his reply:

I order them from PartsExpress.

S-video connector needs to be cut in half to be used.

091-1212 is the part I've used too. Easiest way to open it up is with a pipe cutter.

This style is probably my favorite, although I'm not sure if Mouser has the best price for them (plus they're currently OOS).

This is an panel/bulkhead mount s-video jack to solder terminal in a keystone jack.

This is the similar to the one above, without the gold plating, for a lower price.

That's the ticket! The second one has the wrong image (female DIN jack to female DIN jack), but the description and technical drawing (on the "Data Sheet" tab) at the site show it is jack to solder.

Just an update for those looking a deal on solder type s-video jack, the price of these has dropped to $0.40 in beige, $0.50 in white. Just remove from the keystone adapter and it is chassis mount.

The wrong image (female DIN jack to female DIN jack) is given, but the description and technical drawing (on the "Data Sheet" tab) at the site show it is jack to solder.

I use these for all my console mods.
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 260599682588
Super cheap and if you drill the hole right they look factory installed.
Just hit them with a hot glue gun from the inside so they don't move.
Not as fancy as the steel connectors but at least there are no screw holes to drill.

UPDATE

Forget showmecables. The PI product and Showmecables product are the exact same. PI has the wrong picture. They are both the same as pictured at showmecables. Both have the gold plating. Exact same product. Buy them at PI save a bunch of money.
