So, my original Xevious is in an uninsulated, unheated garage since I got it 3+ months ago. With a Minnesnowta winter moving in, & the week-old snow dumping we got, I'm concerned about it's well-being. My local expert says it'll be OK if I dont play it (startup would be rough on the 30 yr old innards) & I threw a blanket over it but I'm having doubts.

Other than getting over two 8" steps & a negotiating a couple tight turns, I think this could be a 1-man job.

Any advice? Will it survive a cold winter w/ another couple blankets on it? Or should I get it in the house ASAP?

I don't see how old circuit boards would not be susceptible to freezing temps...move it inside. I can't even find someone to fix my Donkey Kong boardset...imagine what you may run into trying to find someone to fix a Xevious boardset.

IT'S IN!!!

A scary moment as it slid down 6 carpeted stairs 99% by itself on its back (the switch is mostly recessed), I was on the higher end (top) maintaining a hold. Everything seems OK, some consensation on the inside of the glass panel. Other than that, how long do I let it warm up to room temp?

No I mean it's been outside for 3 months & cold for about 6 wks, I took the back panel off to check inside & it was cold inside. So should I wait like an hour, 2 hrs, all night or what?

24 hours or so should acclimate it.

Oops, Ive been playing now for 45 min. Got my 2nd alltime high score. I'll have to leave it alone once the family gets home.

& I removed the glass panel & wiped the condensation off it & the screen. Black border on the panel needs touching up but thats a project for another day.

No you're alright storing in cold temps. I have many in a storage shed right now in fact! The only word on caution is any games that have painted glass marquees and bezels! Definitely pull those before storing them away.....

Heh now you tell me... anyway, it's in for good now & not moving until I get some help- not getting back up those carpeted steps myself...down's easier than up.

One of the main things people forget about storing games in an unheated garage is that you invite mice to make new homes and "borrow" important wires/etc.. I honestly can not count how many games I have bought that have sat in garages here in MN for years and have had severe mouse damage.

Yeah I thought about that too. though we had quite a mouse de-infestation a couple yrs back, set a couple traps in the attic & caught several. I havent heard them scratching around yet this yr though.
