Normal trips to the thrifts and local gameshops yield only frustration when looking for 5200 games. I've been striking out at Goodwill, the pawns don't even bother with it, and my favorite haunt usually only has 10 copies of Pac-Man.

TODAY THOUGH, WAS A DIFFERENT DAY...

I had just been to the bank to make a deposit so my wife and I could pay bills, and for the hell of it I said "I'll make it out for a little over the amount we need and cash the difference to 'make the rounds'" to myself. Turns out there's not much reason for me to 'make the rounds' though, because one stop and one stop alone turned out to be the MOTHERLODE. Now I'll admit there's nothing super rare here like Bounty Bob, but just the fact that I found this many good unique 5200 games when I normally don't find ANY at all makes me so happy they could all be butt-common and I STILL wouldn't care. Here's the list:

Buck Rogers, Centipede, Defender (2X), Frogger, Kaboom!, Keystone Kapers, Mario Bros., Missile Command (2X), Pitfall!, Pole Position, Popeye, Q*Bert, RealSports Football, Star Trek: S.O.S., Super Breakout

I got these 17 and 6 Atari 2600 carts all for $6.50 + tax. :D :D :D

OH HAPPY DAY!

(And for those watching my contest in the forum, there was only one maybe TWO unique carts out of those 6 - I have to go through them and check, but I think two others are dupes and two more are LVAR; I guarantee though there's no winner yet.)

Congrats on the pickup. Even though there's nothing rare there, you got the games at a really good price. Are they your first 5200 games?

The only other 5200 games I had before now were Pac-Man (2X) and Centipede. I also have a copy of Koffi I ordered from Cafeman coming eventually, whenever it ships. And I may be getting some more in a private deal, but that hasn't been completed yet. Suddenly though, my once miniscule set of 5200 games is coming alive! :D

That's good to hear. The Atari 5200 is a great system to collect for. I recently finished off the carts for the system and have now begun my search for the original prototypes. The multicart is a great addition to the system as well as it has everything for the 5200 except Super Pac-Man, Bounty Bob and a couple of homebrews.

Is the 5200 multi another S.K. production? I have one of his Vectrex products and was so satisfied with it I'd buy an Atari one from him too. ;)

Yes, it is an SK production and it's menu driven. It is excellent. The only bug is that sometimes you have to reset a game in order to use a trakball (?sp)

Nice find. Last cart I found for the 5200 was Pole Position.

Any way you'd want to sell your extra copies of Defender and Missile Command? I have a very small collection, and that would practically double my collection :D . If you don't want to sell or trade them, I understand.

Funny you should say that, because using the extras as trade bait was exactly what I had in mind. ;) If you don't have any 5200 games you can trade, send me a 2600 list and we'll talk shop. :D

I really don't have any 5200 games to trade, I barely have any games and the ones I have I would like to keep. But if you look at www.angelfire.com/games4/icecoldatari you can see the games i have for other systems and see if there's anything you want. Thank you! :)

Okay, thank you! I will be updating my page pretty soon, I've recently got some more stuff(my 5200, I have a Game.com in the mail, Intellivision). So if you don't see anything now, check back in a couple days :D . Once I get the Game.com I'll update the site.

Thank you! :)
