I'm looking for one or more artists with solid 2D skills to help with several Lynx games Songbird is working on. Prospective artists should be able to hand-draw (or possibly render from 3D objects) 16-color sprites with 1 to N frames of animation that will fit in the Lynx screen size of 160x102.
Thus, some static images such as title or background screens may only require 1 frame and will fill the entire screen. Other images may be animated, occupy a subset of the screen, and require many frames of animation -- such as a new fighter for Ultravore.
I am willing to discuss payment options relative to the amount of contribution. Contribute only a title screen or a couple of in-game background screens, and the most likely payment will be a listing in the game credits. Contribute a new fighter for Ultravore, which requires 30+ frames of hand-drawn animation consistent with the look and feel of existing graphics, and you'll probably receive one or more free copies of the published game, plus perhaps a small amount of cash.
Note that while I will try to offer something relative to the amount of work involved, this is first and foremost a labor of love. It's a great opportunity to work together to sustain one of the best handhelds ever, the Atari Lynx! My hope is to find some talented Atari fans who want to take a stab at being involved with a game mainly for the experience and a small amount of compensation.
So, if you've got some solid 2D art skills on a limited screen and palette, or know someone who is, please contact me. Thanks!
