Hi there,

I recently obtained a bare 7800 system. It has no controllers, power supply or games. It was wondering if 7800 games are hard to come by in the wild and what a fair price would be for common 7800 carts :?

I was also wondering if I could use my 2600 controllers with the system.

I have a 2600 and 5200, but know nothing about the 7800 system. Any help would be appreciated.

2600 controllers WILL work with the system, but some games like Xenophobe and One on One require both buttons on the proline controller.

Not sure about how rare the games are to find. Check out OSheas for some.

1. 80% of the 7800 games will work with or without the 7800 stick/joypad. 20% require two unique buttons, and the 2600 sticks only have one. If you plan to get a full 7800 library you may want the actual 7800 controllers (I use the joypads, they're more comfortable than the sticks to me).
2. A great percentage of 7800 games are dirt-common, and O'Sheas (as already mentioned) still sells some of these CIB. I ordered a dozen for $5 each and got an extra one unsealed (Karateka) for free although I can't guarantee everyone will. They were shipped for $10 UPS.
3. Common games should be found in the wild for $2 or less, and maybe even on occasion some rarities. If you get into a full library of 7800 games though you'll find yourself paying a premium for a few that don't show up in the wild and can only be gotten via eBay. Expect upwards of $10 for games like Commando, Double Dragon, and Midnight Mutants; $20 and up for Ikari Warriors, Water Ski, and Planet Smashers (especially if any of them are CIB).

7800 games are generally harder to find than 2600 games because the system never caught on like it should have. I've only recently found some in the wild. Ebay is probably your best bet.

Actually, it's closer to 60% working with the 2600 sticks. Here's a list of the games and if they require a 7800 controller or not.

Thanks for all the help. I placed an order for some games through Osheas and have a power supply and joysticks on the way through some trades.
