I think it could be an improved version of the A8 and 2600 ones, in fact you could even put the a8 (or 2600) version built in as an unlockable extra

Improved as in, more levels (star systems) to explore (like SR2, but keeping SR1's gameplay and engine) and a selection of ships you can choose from

Also with the scoring, some ships score you points and some ships (or if you dock with a starbase) you get money (which can go towards buying add on's for your ship or trading in one ship for another)

If not star raiders, then possibly a star raidersy type game (like deep space, from the ST/amiga), though that particular game has an interesting history, since it originally existed as part of the imagine 'megagames' series which was acquired by finespeed (while imagine were going through the final throes of bankruptcy)

That would be cool, but it would have to be done by the legendary Doug himself! :D

Ultra Star Raiders

Was being programmed by the legendary Jeff Minter for the Lynx but was never released there was even an interview with him that was about Tempest 2000 where he mentioned having done a fair bit of coding on it. Wish I could find that interview and even more so a proto of the game

Possibly another game that could be done...a stripped down version of 'blast radius' from the psx (playstation), since that is very 'star raidersy', but moreso akin to star raiders 2 then the original

Interesting thing is, this game was published by the same people that did 'deep space', (namely psygnosis)...perhaps it's an updated version or something

Remnant (published by Songbird) is a simple homage to the Star Raiders genre which I played in all its incarnations on the original 2600: Star Raiders, Starmaster (awesome game!), Space Voyager, Phaser Patrol.

I always intended to make a sequel that included systems damage, starbase docking, and a galactic map, but alas, not all good intentions come to fruition...

Sorry, I haven't done any video clips... video capture wasn't so great back 11 years ago when I developed the game. ;) I'll put it on my list of things to do.
