So I'm planning on buying a carrying case for my Lynx II but from looking at the listings I'm seeing on ebay I'm rather confused as to what I'd be getting. I want to get the smaller pouch design rather then the big case but I'm seeing 2 different types of them on ebay and am not sure whats correct.

I was planning on buying a brand new boxed one from these guys. They claim its for the Lynx II.
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 370483126205

But then I noticed this case, also claiming to be for the Lynx II for sale and noticed it looked quite a bit different. It appears to be much shorter then the picture on the box for the case in the other listing.
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300522808454

Any help would be appreciated. The 2nd link is the only shorter looking case I'm seeing atm on ebay and I'd buy it right now if it wasn't for the fact that I'd much rather have a boxed one. Bt if it is in fact harder to find that style of case for the Lynx II and the seller of the boxed one is wrong then I will buy the loose one.

There is no difference and both machines fit in them fine.

Ok good to know they are the same. I'm kind of wierd and a perfectionist with everything so I'd have been annoyed with myself for getting the wrong case even if it fit fine. :P

Actually, there is a difference. I only have Lynx II's, no original Lynx, but I have several of the large pouches and one of the smaller pouches. One of the pouches can fit the Original Lynx, or the Lynx II with an AC adapter. The newer, smaller case fits the Lynx II without an adapter, and though I haven't tried it, I can't imagine it would fit an original Lynx at all.

Thats weird cos I have come across tons of these pouches and never seen one that wasn't the same. :?

Any chance you could tell from looking at the pictures in the links if the boxed one is the smaller one or the larger one?

Personally I would get the large Lynx kit case, it holds anything and everything regarding Lynx items. I keep my entire Lynx collection inside one of those. The Pouch you want is cheaper, but isn't adequate to hold very much stuff, and it doesn't have the padding that the big case does.

No, I believe the box is the same for both types. I don't have anything to prove this, but I've always assumed they just phased out the big pouch and started to put the smaller pouch in the same box when the Lynx II was released. I'll dig out my boxes sometime in the next few days and I'll compare them.

I'm planning on getting one of those cases eventually but I worry about the size of it. I'm planning on actually taking my Lynx with my when I go on vacation later this year for the flight portion of it. The large carrying cases looks too large to take on board since I'll already be carrying my usual carry on bag. What are the dimensions of the larger one?

I have one of those... You'd be surprised at how many games you can fit in those pouches on the side... And it fits both Lynx models fine. I find when I have a large carry case for a game system, I'm less likely to actually take the system anywhere because it's too obnoxious.

The Kit case isn't that much bigger than the pouch, and you can store basically everything in it. I just wish it had more pockets in it, as it can only store 12 games if you want to be able to see each one. You can double up or perhaps triple up, but then the other games don't show. Currently I have 16 games, and I just store the extra four in between two of the divider sections. I'm toying with the idea of attempting to sew another set of pockets in there, if I can figure out my wife's sewing machine...

There are two types of pouches, Lynx I and Lynx II.

Like someone already said, the Lynx II will of course fit in both pouches, but this is not recommended as the Lynx II will not fit "tight".

The Lynx I however, doesn't fit in a Lynx II pouch.

I can only find one of my pouch boxes, and it's the one for the original (longer) pouch. It says on the front that it fits all Lynx models. I can't see the photos anymore for the first auction posted in this thread. You can definitely tell a difference in the two pouch styles in the photo that Isgoed provided. Besides the color and texture difference in the two styles, the difference in length between the bottom of the lower pocket and the bottom of the case is pretty obvious.

That doesn't help you if you're just looking at a photo of the box, but I'd imagine the box for the newer model won't say anything about it working with all Lynx models, since it doesn't fit a Lynx I as Isgoed pointed out.

Not recommended by who? If fits well enough, it's not going to fall out. The Lynx II is just not as long as the first model.

Not recommended by me, and probably not recommended by Atari.

If the Lynx II in a Lynx I pouch would've fit well enough, they (Atari) shouldn't have made a pouch for the Lynx II.

4 out of 5 dentists recommend using the correct carrying pouch for the Lynx.

That, and of course Trident sugarless gum...

It's also can also be an aesthetics and a money thing. Such as that it looks a little weird having that extra length. Also, if you sell a bunch of one bag design to retailers and then you change your system to make it shorter, you can now foist a new bag design on those same retailers even though the bag they have plenty of stock of fits well enough.

I would say if you have a Lynx II and you want a carry bag, don't get snookered into paying too much. Just get the whichever one is the better deal on price/condition.

Not recommended by Me either, mostly because the pouches have no padding. The large kit case isn't as huge as it looks in pictures you can find online, I was actually a tad disappointed when I first received mine because it was much smaller than I had conceived by pictures, but it certainly holds everything I need perfectly. It's about the size of a Trapper Keeper (remember those?), but designed like actual luggage. It's just awesome and I would probably never recommend the Pouch now for any reason because it doesn't have a single advantage over the large case.

Hmm. I'm delaying ordering for a while so I can decided if I should just go for a large case or stick with my original plan. I do have a question about the large case though I'm hopping someone can answer for me. My question is concerning the interior. Do they all include a divider to allow you to size the interior to properly fit a Lynx II? I was looking at the ones on ebay and one of them doesn't have the(velcro attached?)divider in the section for the system. Nor does the divider appear on the back of the box for the one that is selling brand new in the box.

No divider shown

Never mind just got my answer about the boxed one from the people selling it on ebay. :P
