I've heard once that best electronics has converted the blackhawk joystick.

But I've seen it on the website.

If you have a K-series Jaguar you can convert just about any PC analog joystick to work with BattleSphere and/or BattleSphere Gold™, in true Analog mode. It's one of the codes in the game. It works too!

What's the difference between the K series and M series jags when it comes to analog joysticks?

M series are the el-cheapo Motorola cost-reduced versions without the analog circuits for the Joypads.

Can you elaberate on this a little?
I wasn't aware that the later jags were inferior to the K series.
Are you saying that they eliminated hardware in the M series jags?

You have the Jaguars.
Open them up and see.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have 2 K series and an M.

The main difference i see is that my copy of Rayman plays on the M series but not on either of the K series.

Is that weird to my machines or has anybody else seen this?

I've heard that ATARI, for the last modelle Of jaguar has reduced the RAM
from 4MB to 2 MB, because no game where use the full ram iof the jaguar, ... they tried desperatall to save as much money as they can. THat's sad isn't ?

Not sure what you mean there.

I'm pretty sure they all had 2MB ram.
Maybe i am misunderstanding what you mean?

They ALL had 2MB of RAM. Believe me, if any of them had 4MB then you would have seen some really cool stuff in BattleSphere™.

Atari DID at one point before the Jag came out try and reduce it from 2MB to 1MB, but all the developers said this would never be good enough so they left it at 2MB.

Hey, T'bird.
I remember I read a lot of threads about the analogue affair, and I am sure I never heard about the PCjoystick conversion (obviously I may be wrong).
So, pleaspleaseplease tell me how to convert this PC joystick, and why nobody is selling adapted joysticks, since there are a few guys that know well how to hack hardware.

Bye
Paolo

I have told several people how to modify joysticks. One fellow said he was going to sell them so I deferred from making my own or publishing plans because I wanted to help him out. This was about 6 weeks ago, but I have not heard anythnig since.

Basically, the PC joystick uses a potentiometer where only 2 pins are used: one side and the center wiper. To work on the Jag, the sides of the pot have to be hooked to +5 and GND and the center goes to the analog pin of the joystick port on the Jag.

+5---////---GND
Input------|

(That will probably get messed up in HTML but you get the idea)

I don't know the exact pins to hook up right off my head, so someone will have to look it up. There's only 2 input pins on the port, UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT. Hook up each pot and you'll be running. You'll have to use trial and error to figue out which end of each pot is +5 and which is GND because different pots wire them differently and if you get it wrong the only thing which will happen is your directions will be reversed when you play. Just reverse the connections to fix it.

an Octect is essentially a Byte. (8=oct so 8 bits is an octet). it's just a more clean accurate way of saying Byte.

to get the value in Mb (Megabits) just multiply by 8. so 2 MO= 16 Mb

2MO = 2 MB
