I picked this up for cheap recently, and I've been enjoying it. It got a lot of bad-to-mediocre reviews, but it seems like the reviewers just stunk at it & got frustrated. The gameplay's a nice twist on arkanoid/breakout (one of my favorite game styles), where you bat a ball towards a goal, breaking obstacles in the way while the screen scrolls. It's nice having another motionplus game beside sports resort & red steel 2, too.

And it REALLY seems like a Kirby game that lost/couldn't get the Kirby license. The pink wiimote it ships with, the cutesy art & story, the ball of a character, and the fact that Kirby's been in similar oddball games (Pinball Land, Tilt 'n Tumble) really make me think it would've sold better if he'd been plastered on it.

Oh well, anybody else play this? What did you think?

I'd say its only alright. It isn't too difficult, but perhaps I haven't gotten far enough where its really challenging. Its a pretty simple pick up and play game that my daughters (ages 10 and 3) enjoy. I more or less bought it to get another MotionPlus controller, getting the game was just a bonus. Fortunately I didn't have extremely high standards for it, but its a fair game none the less.

As for it not being able to have the Kirby license, isn't Kirby owned by Nintendo? With FlingSmash being a Nintendo game, I'm sure they could have put Kirby in there, but possibly they thought with Epic Yarn already being out there that this would be considered a pretty big step back for the franchise.

I currently own two Wii-motes and have been thinking of getting another Wii-mote or two for when company comes over & we want to play 3-4 player Wii games like Wii Party. So I'll probably be picking up a Fling Smash bundle sometime soon.

Fling Smash looks fun to me but as you said, many reviews have given it a ho-hum verdict.

Well, you can hardly complain about repetitive & ho-hum gameplay on an atari fansite, now can you?
