Easter Tournament: Funspot XII

This will be a 10 game tournament consisting of 8 games from the main tournament, 1 game from the manufacturer's challenge (Universal) and 1 game from the "game of the day."

Voting process

This is simple - select 8 games from the main tournament, 1 game from the manufacturer's challenge (Universal) and 1 game from the "game of the day."

Games will be added to the tournament based on the total number of votes beginning highest to lowest.

Voting tiebreakers:

  1.
  2. If a game has not been played previously in the history of the AtariAge Arcade/MAME HSC, that game will be chosen.
  3. If there are multiple titles that have been played previously in the history of the AtariAge Arcade/MAME HSC, then the most recently played title will be rolled over to the Flag Day Craptacular.

Games that have multiple votes that do not make the cut in the Easter Tournament will be added to the Flag Day Craptacular in June.

If ten games have not been selected within one week of the tournament start date, games will be selected in the following order:

  •
  • HSC Season 2 Champion (roadrunner)
  • HSC Season 3 Standings as of one week from tournament start date from highest to lowest by only those that have cast votes
  • In case of a "wrap around," the selections will return back to the top of the current season standings

No games will be added to the player's game request queue since selections are restricted to a pool of titles.

Competition begins Sunday, April 17 @ noon EDT and ends Monday, May 2 @ 3AM EDT

Esc to quit the game.

If that does not work try this:

In a game press TAB>Input (general)>User Interface>UI Cancel = Escape

If you are prompted to confirm the exit press Enter.

To remove the Enter when starting a game do this:

In the select game interface go to the Options Menu>Default Game Option>Miscellaneous tab and check Skip Game Info

While there you can also unchecked the "Quit game with confirmation" box.

See image ....

And FYI, this is the official version to submit games to TwinGalaxies.

To record your game right click on the game name and select "Play and record Input" (see image)

I stopped submitting scores to Twin Galaxies. I got a little pissed off when I made a tape of 8 hrs worth of 2600/7800 scores, sent them to Todd Rogers and they were never verified. I didn't even get a response to my emails asking if he ever received the tape.

Of course, you won't have these problems submitting INP files but for me it kind of killed my interest in submitting scores altogether. I'm content with Aurcade documenting my scores at tournaments.

With tapes I heard that it could take several months, unless you send the new Donkey Kong world record!

Especially with all the submission they get for PS3, Wii and the 360 now! It will probably take longer.

They should have kept TG for Arcade and classic consoles and create a new site for 1990 and beyond.

It would be nice if Aurcade was accepting INP or create a new site just for MAME.

I might also try MARP, but they don't have any rules (dipswitch settings) but for archiving it looks OK.

I sent the tape last May. It really depends on who you send it to. Patrick Scott Paterson (who is no longer with TG) would have them verified in 2-3 weeks.

I don't like MARP for the simple fact that they have not standardized on one version of MAME. Every time you want to view an INP file you have to download a different version of MAME. It sucks.

Also, out of all the INPs I have downloaded from MARP and was actually able to view (which was less than 10) only about two of them were the actual game it was supposed to be.

I remember downloading one that was supposed to be Mario Bros. and instead it was Solitaire! WTF?

If it pleases the players, I'd like to reserve two slots for crap titles for the Flag Day Tournament.

So, I'd like to take 3 titles from this tournament and 3 titles from Memorial Day Tournament. Add to that a game from 1993, Sundance and a vote on two crap titles.

If voting ended now, selections for the 3 titles from this tourney would be:

Bank Panic (4) & Cheeky Mouse (2) eliminated since they have already been played this season.

Games that would be in:

Karate Champ (3)

Rush N Attack (3)

And vote on one of the following three titles:

Rescue (2)

Super Missile Attack (2)

Up Scope (2)

Comments?

Voting ends Sunday, April 10

  • 3 weeks later...

Qix is a no brainer for me. I LOVE this game... my score of 68k is still on the arcade at Dave and Busters, and I did that score roughly 4-5 months ago.

The high on AA is 52K - maybe you can break it? :)

I plan on. My old high when I had my Qix mame cabinet was 80k+ if I remember right.

With my SSF4 stick with the optional restrictor plate on the thing, I should have just as good, if not better controls than that. I'm quite excited to tackle it.

BTW, I've been sending you invites for the Retrocade parties but the status says "delivered" as if they are being sent to an address you no longer use or is being sent to "Junk"
